    Default Plantar Fasciitis Question

I have suffering with this from July. I refuse to go back to the foot and ankle Dr. due to having paid them about $600 this year for another foot problem.
Has any one have had this before and how long before it goes away? I was running with it all July 2-3 times a week 2-3 miles. I have not ran all of Aug., Was told by a trainer at the gum to stay away from running for a while, thats when I decided to take Aug off from running.
It is feeling better and mostly hurts when I wake up. The pain is almost gone and feels like I should be able to start more cardo soon. I did start the riding the stationalry bike at the gym last week.

    Plantar Fasciitis

The most common cause of arch pain is plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is the name that describes inflammation of the fibrous band of tissue that connects the heel to the toes. Symptoms of plantar fasciitis include pain early in the morning and pain with long walks or prolonged standing.
Arch pain early in the morning is due to the plantar fascia becoming contracted and tight as you sleep through the night. When awakening and walking in the morning, the fascia is still tight and prone to irritation when stretched. When walking or standing for long periods, the plantar fascia becomes inflamed and painful.

I had this is both left and right feet. I had an operation to both feet (not in the same year of course) but both feet are much better now.

Yes, it is worse in the morning! I remember it feeling like walking on broken glass when I first woke up in the morning.........

First off you should see a doc to confirm the diagnosis if you have not. If it is Plantar Fasciitis your best bet is physical therapy. There are some amazing arch supports out there that used with a physical therapy will usually resolve the problem in a timely manner

The only thing I can tell you about it is that I had it since last year then I had sugery and it corrected the problem..still sore as heck, (surgery was in Dec) and still have issues. I think the best thing you can do is to do the excersices and to use arch supports. But Surgery should be the last thing you do...mainly because you needs your feet

I have it also, more in my right foot than the left. I just try to avoid the things that make it worse. I have just lived with mine for the past year or so, but may try the heel supports.

Had it, it sucked!!! Lots of streching! No surgery, but got a brace from the Doc that I wore when I slept. Took awhile to heal.

Unhappy Yeah, PF sucks big time!

I had a couple of bouts with it a few years ago. One things you can do is take a cold can of soda and roll it under your foot first thing in the morning. Also, did you just get new shoes? I bought a pair of Nikes that caused my first case and the second one was from not completely healing from the first bout. Some 800-1000 milligram Motrin might not hurt either but the main thing is stretching and rest.

I had this problem early in my career and it cost me a chance at going to selection, but it was all my fault. I started having issues after long runs and ruck marches, but I never listened to the PA when they told me to chill me out with all that shit.

I had this gung-ho attitude and I did not want to be a profile soldier, but that decision damn near cost me my career. I kept on running and rucking until I did some serious damage to my feet, and I had to fight through two medical boards to stay in the Army.

Trust me, take it easy and follow the doc's advice. There is no rush and you need to committ to the rehabing of your feet. Do not let the pressure force you into a bad decision and give yourself a chance to heal, because you are only doing yourself a service by allowing your feet to heal.

I wish I would have listened to this advice 9 years ago, would have saved me a lot of time and grief.
