MY last foot pursuit a few days ago was a nightmare, my radio dragging behind me and I had to get help to catch the guy. I did give him a good toothbrushing with OC spray though.

It pissed me off...I was 8 feet behind and couldn't gain. If I had a taser I could've taken him. My handmike fell too. I would've OC'd the shit out of him, had I caught him.

Yah I am 4 for 5 on Tasing on the run. This guy turned a corner as I shot my Taser at him so I missed. When I cornered him we were so pissed, I sprayed him then buffed the concrete with his face. Good times.

What my esteemed brother means to say is that he assisted the accused to the ground but due to the uneven surface the accused sustained abrasions. Despite repeated efforts to assist the accused to the ground, the accused received self inflicted abrasions and contusions when trying to stand.

I went on a ride along with my ex brother in law in Houston and I ran down a car thief on foot after he jumped out of the stolen car.

They let ridealongs do that in Houston? In this state ridealongs stay in the car at all times on calls and if its a real hot one (shots fired and the like) they get dumped off on a street corner.

Try catching that car thief wearing boots, a full duty belt, ballistic vest, and calling the chase on your portable radio...a different world. Bottom line...if you're up against a guy who isn't a fatass or over 40, you can't win if he's got a jump on you.

No, they don't allow it. Before more police arrived the BIL was in a panic, but it wasn't an issue, no one asked.

And I wasn't knocking you or making a comparison. Just throwing it out there.

Absolutely, it is all about what you can articulate. You can make a report sound like you were doing the guy a favor by tasing, pepper spraying and then breaking his hand.

I prefer, "applied a closed handed strike to the upper body area"= Punched him in the face.

Also, "went hands on and applied leverage to lower the suspect to the ground into a position where he could be handcuffed and prevent further injury to him and officers"= Slam him face first on the ground.
