I was in class 2-84. May 1984. It would be nice to run into some of my class mates on this forum.

    Class 7-82 here.

How about the ticks? It seemed no matter how much bug juice I used those things would find there way. I remember dropping down into the prone and seeing them come out of the pine needles by the hundreds it seemed.

I remember a few of us getting a night mission to do a recon on some national guard unit that had set up shop during the day. I remember we came up on the perimeter OP and the guy was sleeping. So we decided that we would impress the instructor by taking his weapon. We did. Got back to be informed that we had just committed a felony and if we got caught taking it back we were done. We got it back and finished the school.

Thanks for the memories. It seems that they start coming out when reading these threads.

SGT G, Did we discuss the fact that I was an Instructor at Recondo in May of 84 SSG Welsh, I was Chief of the H to H and also worked with the SERE, Rappel & Patrolling comms. And I was the NCOIC of the Schools Demonstration Team AND I was the obstacle course demo man since I was the oldest Instructor there...1SG Roreum had his dogs and his RUCK SACK. SFC Edyburn was the Senior Inst and we had SSG Duderstadt a biker who was as hard as nails and really intelligent, a few bigger NCO's like SF Moose Sicard, SSG Hoss Greene and CPL Lurch ?? A couple more but their names are a blank...>>>>>> "SALSA"

Brasso, you must have been the instructor that kicked that karate black belt's ass in the H to H pit when I went through in February '85. Funniest thing ever.

Just found the Jump Manifest from my Recondo class, signed by SFC Edyburn. More then the jump itself, I remember the forced march to the DZ and waiting forever on the freezing ground for the C-130 to show up. I swear that during that forced march, every time the Instructors made us double time because they "heard someone talking," they were just making that up!

I think they switched it over in the summer of 1985.

I was five eight an about 165 lbs. Brasso matched me up with a 6 foot plus monster in the H H pit. So there would be no buddy pact Brasso made me put saw dust down his pants and shirt. Brasso was always looking for the most effective means of enhancing our training. Thank god that monster of a man didn't take it personally.

Did your class do the drill where everyone went into the pit and the object was to throw everyone else out of the pit? I made it to about midway through the class and then got to watch as one guy got flipped on his back onto the frozen sandbags that ringed the pit. Not a pretty sight at all, lol. Can't remember if that guy finished the course after that; we did have a good dropout rate, and I was mostly concerned with keeping my head down and not fucking up.

We did that drill. At 5 foot 7 150lbs, I didn't get too far. How about the jumping head first over guys lined up on their hands and knees. It was like Evel Knievel without the bike.

You know I had forgotten about that, but now I remember that was probably the only thing that really made me nervous in that school, because I was afraid if I didn't tuck and roll at the right time I would break my neck.

He'll yes we did it. Lost my first RECODO buddy to a broken collar bone. Had some other guy get his eye full of saw dust that he to go to the hospital. I remember the jump and roll stuff too. I always hit hard every time I did it. Too bad the Army did away with that course. If you made it thru RECONDO school you knew you had accomplished something.

We started with 80 guys. I remember during graduation with the other 22 thinking "what the fuck happened to everybody?"
