I went on Paratroopers of the fifties and contacted a fellow trooper who was at Campbell the same time I was. I emailed him and lo and behold we were in the same class. We graduated June 58. I will be finding out more when he emails me back.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth a war, is worse. A man who has nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance at being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."- John Stuart Mill
That is outstanding,T-10....I bet the odds of that happening are pretty slim. HOOAH!I emailed him and lo and behold we were in the same class. We graduated June 58. I will be finding out more when he emails me back.

Live through it: Yeah. But with the way my knees hurt through Ground Week I might have flunked out.
Because I was heading overseas I got to stick around for a while while the rest of my Class went to Fort Bragg that very day. In the Class right behind us I was told about a parachute malfunction and a fatality. From who was doing the talking the Reserve wasn't pulled until the Jumper was from 10 feet to 10 yards from the ground. WIth what the Black Hats drummed into us I can't understand that at all. Your chute malfunctions you Pull the Reserve instantly. Better to land with 2 chutes deployed and landing safely than not.
^CRAZY STUFF^I was #460 and he was #461 or #467.
Congrats Mike, keep em' coming![]()
What I remember is "son, not to worry if you main doesn't open; you have the rest of your life to deploy your reserve."
The ice cream shack.
The first time being "stand in the door" man, sticking my head out as we crossed over the river and the jumpmaster pointing out the dz. Some of the best times of my life.
This is one of my favorite lines period...and that was continued through ever Pre-jump I ever had.
"If at the end of your four thousand count you do not feel the opening shock, activate your reserve for a complete malfunction... and guarantee that you will have the rest of your Airborne lives to correct that malfunction."

`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat:`we're all mad here.'"- Lewis Carroll

Had a female E-4(Spc Kane)who had a dynamite body....and I could hear the Black Hats make comments about her "assets",especially after exiting the 34ft Tower. They would also tell her to watch what she ate. We were in 42d Co. and had NO chow hall..we used the one at 43d,so the BH would rush us through our meal because we were "guests"in that facility. They would comment to her not to eat ice cream etc. to keep her figure. A different Army back in '83,for sure! For the record..she was pretty cute. Just looked at her picture in the book.Terri Kane(Roster#17)

Still Love Ya Sarah !! I will NOT Comply!
Great recollection old grunt. In 85 we had a female officer, roster number A10. She was in my stick or the one ahead of me so I would usually be somewhere in line behind her for mock doors, towers, etc. She had the greatest rear end and for a young trooper right out of basic and AIT over at Harmony Church, it was just about all I could stand.

When I went through in '93, the females were always in the front during runs and then it went by heighth (shortest to tallest) behind them. I always ran right behind the laidies and can tell you that they did not put salt peter in the food in BAC.....had to dig a hole in the gig pit when doing push ups!
