    Default Met a Marine tonite

I was in my truck waiting for an auction to start this evening when a car pulled up and parked in front of me. It had "Marine" shit all over the back. So I walked up and started talking with him. He served from 67 to 75 as a Marine Pilot. He had a real long nasty scar above his left eye, so I asked him if he had served in Nam. He said "Yeah in 68, but I didn't see any Combat, I was too busy flying brass all over the Country". He said he was in Nam about 9 months and had a chance to go back to the States and go to Fighter School so he did. He was in a Car accident while going to school and suffered a real severe concussion. He said "That is how I got the scar on my forehead". He was in the hospital for some time and actually had memory loss for a couple months. He said "When they released me for duty, they wouldn't let me fly and put me behind a desk, so I finished my enlistment and got out". He then asked me about my Service and we had a real nice long talk. One thing he said to me "I flew a lot of Aircraft, but how you crazy f**kers can jump out of one with just a Parachute, I will never understand" I looked at him for a few seconds and said "Me neither", we laughed about that for 10 minutes. But after all the posers around, it was refreshing to talk to a Vet who was proud of what he did and didn't have to make up a bunch of Rambo embellishment bullshit to make himself more than he was. He was a real nice guy, he lived in Florida and was visiting relatives in Peoria.

As a matter of fact I did. I wrote down the web address and gave it to him. I have given it to several Vets in the past few months, no takers so far, but I still give it out. One other thing said that I forgot to put it in the post. He had a real hot wife for being an old Gal. I asked her if she liked Paratroopers, she said "Yeah, they were my first choice, but I settled for a Marine". We had a good laugh about that too.
