I still have my first P-38. and keep it on a key ring in my patrol car cuz you never know when you may need it.

Being in from 86 to 94, I remember Ts, Cs & MREs. I also remember once being in one of those back yard month long deployments and not shittin for like 3 days. Once the urge to purge finally did come. I did as the any soldier would. Went out into the woodline a good ways, dug my hole and began my duty. After I was done and began to cover the poopy, it was several different colors. I swear I could tell you what meal was what. Now that was funny, I don't care who you are.

I thought T-rats were served hot in those huge, tuna fish type containers.

If you never had a P38 hanging on your dog-tag chain your definitely a cherry! :P LRRP rations were pretty damn good as well as long as you had time to heat water

You have got to be kidding...

Favorite MRE was meatballs in bbq sauce.

Favorite C was Spaghetti if I could heat it, one of the small can meats (so I got fruit) if I couldn't.

Some of the LRRPs were all right (the Spaghetti was better than the C). And you could always add water, fold the bag up and put it inside your shirt to "cook".

They were in clear plastic pouches.
No matter how you tried to re hydrated them, they were still gritty, nasty and gruel like.

We had them on a couple different field exercises, I think in 1982.

LRRPs. Clear plastic bag with a cardboard bottom inside a green or brown plastic bag.
