SC ANG, and the 60 year old loadmaster out of the Texas ANG. We were walking up to the rear of the plane, and jackass is taking pictures. They went on to say they never dropped people out of their planes. Not funny when there is only like 10 seconds of drop zone to jump on, and the leading edge is the ocean.

When there is a .25 cent beer machine in the day room, everything you did was a little hung over.

Our PLT had two humvees that got tasked out for a week for details. Myself and my roomate were the drivers. One detail was 24/7 for the week which was for my M998 troop Humvee and one was only during the day for our command humvee. Because I was taking some college classes we switched details and humvees. While I drove my on and off a train while a class of 2LT's was schooled on how to chain them down (like they would ever do the WORK themselves).
My roomate got to drive a det. of Special Forces from Bragg around Hood for a week. It sounded like a C team conducting training. He said that out in the field they had an E-6 pulling guard at the entrance to their TOC area. At the end they give him a knife with his name and their unit on it.

Always knew school would come back to bite me........

Picking up pine cones and putting them in large boxes for the riggers to practice their "heavy drops" This was at Ft.Bragg in 1972-73 wasn't a bad detail if someone brought a bottle of Jack Daniels or Boonesfarm.
I liked being a rappelling instructor on the RECONDO course for the ROTC wankers at Indiantown Gap PA...I dropped a 2 star for wearing his rappelling gloves on my rappelling ladder and not following instructions having them on his snap link as taught by me.... the NCO instructor.
When he did the 10 pushups and 1 for the abn Ranger in the sky I snapped to attention and saluted him and gave him permission to recover. His son was on of the ROTC cadets going thru the course, hopefully he turned out to ba a good officer like his dad.
Cheers for now, "oens" (that's Rhodesian slang for guys)

They had trash detail...and we ended up with it....4 times in 5 days....

Back then (it may be the same today) each MRE bag had to be emptied and all trahs bags ripped open....
All unused MRE heaters had to be segregated....so not one ounce of trash was left untouched....
I guess everyone hadn't been read on to this and thought they would hide stuff in MRE bags....

First day, found Drug needles - used!
Second Day found a Condom - used!
Third day found a Tampon - used!
Fourth day (the day they came out of the box) found hundreds of MRE bags full of shit brought back from the field...
And each one I had to sort thru with those most awesome Black Leather Army Issue gloves to see if the Heater was unused!

I think back....I wonder why we did that...
I am sure there is some kinda scientific reason....
But that sure was a lot of shit in those bags...

No one posted IG inspections? I used to hate those more than anything. If it's not growing pick it up, If you cant move it paint it. The army cant function without painted white rocks in neat rows. Plus expended 105mm casings with chains welded to them. etc etc

I was just about to add to the thread with my "white rocks" stories! A year ago when my Mom past away and we were cleaning out some old boxes I found some random gear stuffed in one of the boxes- including an old pair of BDU pants that had white paint stains of them! Classic.
My other shit detail was mowing the lawn at the Delta compound. I thought I was so high speed getting to set foot on their hallowed ground, but instead I had to mow their grass with a fucking push mower- no engine- all while being guarded by some guy who was armed. Needless to say I felt more like a convict than anything else.
If you are the only one who can keep his head while everyone around you is loosing theirs, then perhaps you have misunderstood the situation.

Shining my boots and holding a flag for parade detail......I'd rather pick up trash or do dishes than be someones toy soldier.

Sometimes you just gotta make a point.

Being a prisoner chaser in 1970.....going to the indian reservations in South Dakota and picking up 10 AWOL fuckers at a time!

We would take them in handcuffs back to Fort Carson....and within a week they were all AWOL again........

When I was at Polk I always thought BLUFOR were shit bags.

While in the 509th they told us we had to go out to the box and pick up some shit that BLUFOR had buried and a few 5 tons full of garbage. Well we had our BC tell em to fuck off and they picked up their own shit. OPFOR did not use much MRE's in the field and definitely did not shit in MRE containers, we went to the towns and used their porta-shitters.

When I was a CPL I did EVERY bullshit detail since I was the ONLY CPL in my company. Wire detail was the biggest pain in the ass, especially recovering it.

There were a few that I really hated, one was push pull detail at the heavy drop shed. Second was guard duty when you had to guard the 82nd museum, heavy drop, green ramp and this storage shed that was right across from the riggers shed, never did find out what the fuck was in that shed.. The heavy drop gig was better than the rest though, because at least they gave you a shotgun and a couple of rounds of buckshot, otherwise you just carried a pick axe handle. Last but not least was working the carnival every year, that really sucked having to take orders from those inbred fucking carnie shitbags.

Bullshit Re: What was your "worst" support detail ?

God there have been so many but one of the worst was when I was in Germany and we had to separate trash. These douche bags in 1AD were gone to Bosnia but thrashed the barracks before they left and we had to go through and clean them before we left TO GO ON THE SAME MISSION ! We had to clean out three barracks and separate trash for eight hours a day for three days! I was working on this one bag and a rat jumped out on me! I was done after that !
