My bro left today.
I pray he gets a shot at BAC and RIP.
God speed Ivan.
You tell that fucker to keep us posted when he gets a chance, even if he doesn't get his shot at BAC. Hooah?
hooah.
Ill let him know CAL.
I heard from Ivan sunday.
Hes at Benning, hes kickin ass. He says he gets about 4-6 hours of sleep and one time he stayed up all night and he gets smoked alot.
One of his DI's is in the 82nd.
Oh and his nickname is "asprinin".![]()
I asked him whats his chances are looking like for RIP or BAT, he told me he thinks he will be able to get a slot, so thats good to hear.
He will give update when he gets the chance. hooah.
That would be Drill Sergeant. The Army doesn't have DI's. You call your Drill Sergeant a DI and he will scuff you up till you have a fucking stroke.

Yes, Virginia...there is a Santa Claus...
And yes, I did make a possibly fatal mistake when addressing my Senior Drill Sergeant. I was young, dumb and very tired at the time. But I take full responsibility when I called him the Senior Drill Instructor. Whoops.
Although I do wish to make a point of clarification. My father is a Marine and a Vietnam veteran. Throughout my childhood I heard all of his stories about his experiences. That is how I even had the word DI in my vocabulary. It just rolled right off my tongue, much to my regret. I immediately knew someone would have to answer for this, and that puke was me.
And oh yes, I was SMOKED until I was a crispy brown. But I was told to recover, and then I was SMOKED again for good measure.
As a footnote, I was lucky enough to have my family attend my graduation from BT. I introduced my father to my Senior Drill Sergeant. Who immediately told my old man what I had done weeks ago. They both had a very good laugh about that. And then the SDS dropped me again in front of the entire clan and the girlfriend. Just to remind me not to ever do that again. I completed those push-ups with pride.
Good times, my friend, good times…
:D
Welcome. I did Basic at Ft. Ord late February to late April, 1968. Every morning at 1st formation, this one 2LT would turn to our Sr. Drill Sergeant and say: "SDI" and turn the Company over to him. It's the only instance I can think of where a Army Drill Sgt. was referred to that way.
