I run the risk quoting a General from the Third Reich but,

"But courage which goes against military expediency is stupidity, or, if it is insisted upon by a commander, irresponsibility."

" “In the absence of orders, go find something and kill it”

"In a man-to-man fight, the winner is he who has one more round in his magazine. "

    -Ewrin Rommel

I really like that last quote, although if Rommel really said it as the standard German rifle in WWII didn't take magazines.

Here are some great quotes from Winston Churchill-

"A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject."

"A love for tradition has never weakened a nation, indeed it has strengthened nations in their hour of peril."
"All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope."

Although prepared for martyrdom, I preferred that it be postponed.

"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last."

"He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire."

Good ones from Churchill that could apply to our current times.

"Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events."

"One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half."

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

    And my favorite Churchill quotes-

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent vice of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries."

"Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy."

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.

Theodore Roosevelt in his speech after hearing that his son quentin had been shot down in WWI.

I agree with this your American first other wise we become like the Blakans or the Middle East.

True, but unlike the candies that you can leave uneaten, whatever you bite into in life must be chewed and swallowed whether you like the taste or not.
