I'm in a bad mood today.

Too many drivers that stop for green lights, too many red lights, too many drivers that forget that green lights mean take your foot off the brake, traffic jams caused by idiots talking on their cells, etc. And a perfectly lovely late Spring day that I wasn't at the Range shooting on Full Auto.

I wanna go to King Cong and tell Mighty Joe Young's gay lover that isn't banana's I smell on his breath. I wanna go kick him between the legs so hard the name changes to Queen Kong.

I wanna find Godzilla and shove a ton of breath mints down his throat. Then beat sushi breath up so badly that he goes back to being just another overgrown salamander.

The I'm going to get mean. I'm gonna get medieval on some losers. I'm gonna get my Teddy Bear and take on the Entire World!

I played hooky today. I called in sick and headed for the Rifle Range instead.
Today was very probably the best day the entire week is going to have, Saturday and Sunday included. I took my M16A1 with a Leapers 4X scope mounted on it (Yeah, tell me about Leapers…) and 18 thirty round capacity magazines. (540 total rounds.) And I also used, but not all the time, my TAC-16 suppressor.

Here's the Fun Part: I took a camera. I took several pictures, BUT because it's a 35mm Film Camera, it will be a few days - if not longer – before all the pictures are used. I figure I have 6 or so pictures left. Then I'll get the film developed and the pictures moved to DVD. So have patience.

In conclusion:

I expended 540 rounds of .223 ammunition today.
I have now used up a total of 1,681 rounds this year alone.
It's very safe to say that I expended more ammunition this year than I ever did while wearing The Uniform.

Once during the Semi-annual review someone complained that NCOs are not getting enough range time.
Next two weeks were turned into the Range Hell: almost daily full-gear runs to the far range, blasting everything, from pistol/AK/RPG to turret-mounted PKT and cannon.
My head was ringing for a month after.
Years later it's fun to recall.
Damn, now I have to pay for my ammo!

Once in the past I was paid to shoot, kick asses/take names, and jump out of airplanes.
Damn good ol' times!
