Interesting about the Russian pilots. My father and his squad captured a Russian Spetsnaz outside of Da Nang. My father has some interesting stories about Vietnam.

Hell, I see three of my all-time favorite meals there. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I'd take these over LRPs or the MREs I got in the early 80s. Very few things in army life as good as that anticipation as the vented can of a B3 Unit entre heats on the manifold of your M151. Followed by the crushing disappointment of having some cherry LT tell ya we gotta move out just as it's hot.

Mmmm... gnawing that imitation caraway cheese spread right out of the tin with a spoon, cuz those tasteless crackers were pulverized on impact after the crewchief kicked them out of a slick at treetop level. The sheer joy of finding Marlboros in the dark plastic accessories pouch -- the disgust of finding only dried-up and yellow Lucky Strikes or Chesterbusters. The time-honored ritual of stashing your four-cig pack in your camo band on your steel pot along with grenade pins, LSA and bug juice. How carefully we'd tuck away the tiny pack of toilet paper, protecting it from the damp in case of a bush-grunt over a cathole later that evening.

The relaxing warmth of a hot canteen cup of coko-moko made from cocoa beverage powder mixed with instant coffee; the delight of cocoa "chocolate sauce" drizzled over the ultimate prize -- pound cake!

Not to mention the hysterical fun of slipping a peanut butter claymore into some cherries' little campfire... and waiting for the bang.
We were the kids who would jump off a bridge if our friends did it.

I was sitting at the intersection, waiting for light to change, when noticed that (middle-eastern looking) guy in the car behind me is ...snapping the pictures of the back of my car with his iPhone, aiming at the location of my "Infidel" sticker, with AK profile in it.
I must be entered into the database or onto some kind of "hit list".

I got flipped off by a couple middle eastern guys as I took an exit ramp off the interstate a year ago or so. I figure it was either my "I support the IDF" or my "Fight Terrorism, Support Israel" bumper stickers on my truck. I took them off but since we now have concealed carry here finally, I might put them back on.
