What Makes Me Proud to be American this Veterans Day

1. Our American flag flying proudly in the breeze.
2. A military Mom waiting courageously for a safe return.
3. A military wife keeping the home fires burning with grace and strength.
4. Shaking the hand of a veteran who has protected our freedoms .
5. Our church congregation praying for our troops and families.
6. A child pointing at a military helicopter in awe with a smile.
7. " We support our troops" signs in store windows and neighborhood lawns.
8. Military cemeteries that have been taken care of with reverent pride.
9. Children of many religions playing together on the local playground.
10. The courage of the Coast Guard as they rescue victims of hurricanes while their families undergo equal hardships.
11. The dedication of all our armed forces as they work together in synchronicity.
12. A homecoming hug between a father and son, a mother and daughter, young child and parent.
13. Family picnics on a sunny beach...the smell of sun lotion ,the sound of children's laughter.
14. Lighthouses and fireworks,high school football games and baseball parks.
15. Freshly mowed grass and lemonade stands.
16. Yellow school buses and small town parades.
17. Apple pie and hamburgers on the grill.
18. Playing frisbee with the family dog.
19. Big Band, Jazz, Country and Rockn' Roll reminding us all of days gone by and days to come - American music always reminding our troops of home.
20. Political leaders arguing and the people freely voting.
21. A grandmother rocking her grandchild to sleep on the front porch.
22. The soft roar of a biplane flying into a sunset.
23. The way our neighbors and strangers reach out to help when we are in crisis, united we stand.
24. Two veterans embracing with memories only they can ever understand.
25. The sound of Taps being played in honor of a fallen hero.

We must never forget. Thank our troops. Thank a veteran.
