I was out for 13 years before I knew I had a broken back...Hell I jumped for 2 years after breaking it, all I thought it was a cronic back pain from humpping all that weight while I was in. I didn't have a clue and an old VA Doc. Found an old X-ray and told me to get it checked out, so I did .I had the Local VFW helping me for about 10 months then the shit hit the fan... I had to re-submit all my paper work and got the state VFW to help. It took about 6 months ,but I got 100% disability. The local VFW didn't have the resourcses the state VFW had or the real know how about the whole thing. You have to "Hurry up and wait", like none of us have ever heard that or done that before... I think someone needs to calm down and the whole FUCK EVERYONE attitude should be put aside. All the guy's are doing is trying to help you...besides... sometimes this shit takes a while to get through. With that attitude maybe someone should see someone about PTSD...you can get disability added up for more than one thing... Good luck!

Got my 10% turned back on. They owe me back pay to July 1 2007.

But those fuckers denied my Bi-lateral tinnitus.

So now I got to appeal that. That's 10% each ear and those fuckers say they have no proof.

How about six years on the guns (mortars) and 19 years flying mother fucking jet aircraft???? Do you think over 4000+ hours of jet noise and hundreds of 60mm, 4.2 inch and 81mm might just have caused a little ringing in the ears???

    Do ya?

Any of ya'll here know about filing appeals??? If so PM and we'll talk.

The prob that many veterans do not understand is that almost always the first time that a veteran applies for disability, it is denied/or it is severly under-rated. Some patience and consistency is needed. If you are awarded a small rating or denied completely, reapply. I am pissed that the govt./VA plays these games with vetrans. I reside in Oklahoma and I had all my paperwork filed for me through the local DAV. They appeared to be the only ones who gave a shit. It is a horrible game they play with us. My rating increased with each application. 10% the first time, 50% the second, and 80% now. it is a paupers amount of money, but it helps. Be consistent, re-apply, re-apply, re-apply...

If you think VA pisses you now you should have been running the gammet before VA was required by law to give you a C&P or before VA was required to assist you with your claim. VA did not even access their own records when you applied or appealed. Things have changed drastically thanks to Viet Nam Veterans. One thing to remimber is that the VA administrative branch is NOT your friend and that the VA medical service have nothing to do with the disability award with some exceptions. The name of the game is good representation and documentation preferably outside of VA. You said DAV is your trpresentative. This is a good choice.
You state that you are at 80%. Have you thought about unemployability? It can be applied for at 70%. At 100% there is a great increase. I am currently at 190%. A doctor gave me a home bound rateing without me applying. DO NOT GIVE UP! I fought my first claim off and on for 21 years until I really got pissed and ask for a National review. I got a Regional Review and as a result went from a 0% to 100% not reviewable and an appoligy from the adjudicator. It came with a $50,000 back payment. It just shows how screwed up VA Admin can be. Just keep on fighting if you feel you are right. AIRBORNE! GERONIMO!!

How is it possible that the VA can turn down a claim without a C&P exam? They did this to me.

zuluzerosix you ask a logical question so regardless of others I will attempt to give you the answer that you seek. Number one is did you use a god representative i.e. DAV? Number two is what info did you use to base your claim. Now let me say that VA can not refuse a request for a C&P. If they did it was probably some jerkoff. VA has Admin problems to the inth degree. Know this that the law requires VA to give a C&P unless they offer (and the term eludes me) Representative Mediation is what I think it is called. Also know that cases like yours is why the law was changed and allows Legal Representatives as In Social Security. Wharever you do DO NOT GIVE UP. I have no Idea where you are but we have a State Certified Disability Rep in our DAV Chapter here in Paris Ky. Good luck and NEVER GIVE UP. AIRBORNE! GERONIMO!!

Gentlemen I must live on another planet or in another dimension.I walked into my local county Veterans Service office, sat down with a rep and he asked me to tell him everything I felt was service conected that was wrong with me.He told me it was very important that these things be documented, luckly for me everything was in my service file. They assigned a DAV rep to me who called me personally,my claim took less than a year to complete.Anybody in the Omaha/Douglas county area I have the names and phone numbers of the reps who helped me with my claim.Good luck to all.

Some states represent their Veterans well but some just don't care and that is a great injustice to the Veteran. I used a representative from the Ky Dept of Veterans Affairs.
after I got pissed and was determined to go all out. Also times have changed. You can thank VIETNAM Veterans for getting laws changed and booting VA in the ass. AIRBORNE! GERONIMO!!

I had the VA doctor stick his fingers under the top of my kneecap and tell me to tighten my quad muscle, I almost jumped off the table. He said " yep, definatly service related". it's been nine moths and still no rating, hurrry up and wait.same bs.
