    Good stuff, Brother!

There are very few things in life that I find as enjoyable as visiting my favorite haunts after a long absence and finding old Friends (capital "F") to reconnect with after such a lengthy break. Color me jealous!

I was carrying the radio for my Battalion CO at that point, so I was stuck at the Coast Guard base most of the time. I did get to fly around with night vision looking for the seal team aggressors. The guys from my old C Co. (Abn) were infamous after someone called into the local radio station asking why US Troops were boarding and searching under the seats of school buses.

None of the sites my battalion were protecting were compromised. I also got to be part of the mass evacuation to Anchorage and then to several hospitals as one of the wounded. There was a moment there where our landing gear wouldn't deploy and it was going to get exciting. I was wondering if I was going to be able to talk the load master out of one of those airforce chutes and do that as opposed to a belly landing in a 130.

Good times, unfortunately that was my only time on Kodiak and the bears were mostly down for the winter already.
