Guess all those rumors years ago about Marines at 29 Palms being given a questionnaire about whether they would fire on citizens was true after all.

Personally, I think, nothing to see here.

THIS is why the Left is so rabid for Political Correctness. There are certain groups/scenarios that they couldn't use lest they be branded racist. So, when playing strategy games, certain unprotected groups are the default "go to" villains. This has the effect of "branding" some groups as being suspicious and/or violent.

Same reason Major Hasan said things in public that if said someone unprotected, red flags would have waved. Since he was protected, people looked the other way.

I'm pursuing my degree in this field. I am also pursuing an international certification in Emergency Management (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) and one of the requirements for the credential packet is to be published in a recognized journal relative to the field. It is not uncommon for "scenario based" articles such as this to appear from time to time and actually helps generate practical templates for future operations. In this case there is a perceived political agenda but to counter that perception with counter-opinion causes us to lose focus of the intent of the article. The scholarly intent here is to create a scenario based on "likelihood of occurrence" but accuracy of prediction plays less of a role than the scenario of the military role in man-caused disaster science. Like it or not the Tea Party detractors are indeed main-stream and the likely threat against the mainstream may well be future Tea Party radicals. To attempt to call the "aggressors" in the articles' scenario "Aragon Liberation Front" freedom fighters from the Republic of Pineland would simply challenge the readers willing suspension of belief beyond the practical. I have written several threat vulnerability and gap analysis templates lately to agree with the Colonels initial point. Tomorrows extremists will not be Middle Eastern, they will be radicals grown from the moderate right and the mainstream will supply the victims for malicious intent. The main stream Libertalia is like a hot chick...someone,somewhere is sick of her shit and one in ten of those sick of her shit will slap the fuck out of her (cause she just KEEPS askin fer it!).

I have no trouble believing this. Constant trashing by mainstream media and decades of bloated government expansion are going to inevitably produce some aggressive counteraction.

Sounds a lot like the British and the Colonials pre Revolution.

    I gotta disagree.

    a) The Tea Party is more mainstream than the Occupy Movement, or, 90% of the reporters at ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC or CNN.

    b) The Tea Party is overwhelmingly peaceful and law-abiding, while the Occupy Movement is made up of groups and individuals who regularly engage in violence.

    c) The only thing that would radicalize the Tea Party would be an outright suspension of Constitutional law for a police state.

    d) IMO, the most likely SHTF scenario that could happen in the short term could come to pass as a result of the 2012 election. Imagine- the Rs keep the House, take the Senate (but maybe not with 60), and Obama is re-elected. Obama is already violating the Constitution and not enforcing laws that he doesn't like. After the election WHEN HE NO LONGER NEEDS TO BE ON HIS BEST BEHAVIOR, Obama goes on a tear- not enforcing the law and violating the Constitution. The House WILL impeach him. The Rs get enough Ds in the Senate and Obama is removed from office. The Left-leaning media stirs up discord and racial strife. The Occupy Movement and the New Black Panthers begin a insurgency.
