Default Never gets old to me

About 30 minutes ago I watched Air Force 1 fly out of the airport here. About 3 hours before that I watched it land and the motorcade drive by.

I have to tell you, I truly don't care whop was sitting in the car or the plane at that time. I have seen AF1 several times as well as every President since Reagan. Wathcing the motorcade and seeing AF1 just never gets old for me.

God I love this country and I am so glad to be an American. I feel so much pride when I see AF1 in the air. Man it was just awesome.

For those of you that didn't know, The POTUS was here to speak and the National Convention for the VFW.

Seeing AF1 coming into Fresno and knowing who was in it today would just make me ill and want to throw up.

I'd like to see him pay for these flights - allegedly he flew into San Francisco, then flew to Reno, then flew to Oakland ... why the fuck can't he fly into SF, then drive over to Oakland, then drive back to SF and fly out? Oh yeah - it's not his pocket the money is coming out of...

You must be kidding --they would have to shut down the Bay Bridge for him to do that.It would cost a fortune for him to drive there.

He should be paying for all the campaign flights he's making. That shouldn't be borne by the taxpayer.

Besides his speaking at the VFW Convention his flight was probably to scout out more golf courses for him to cross of his list to play at, all at taxpayers expense of course.

AF1 might be impressive to look at, but there are not many GA pilots who care for the POTUS visiting their towns. When that takes place, all of the airspace for many miles around (usually about thirty) is effectively shut down with a TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction). The penalties can be severe for busting that airspace.

The problem is, not everyone who wants to just putt around a bit in their little Piper Cub or Taylorcraft bothers with getting a full briefing before such flights. To make matters worse, many of those old tube and fabric aircraft have no radios.

For the pilots who do have aircraft with all the gizmo's and do get briefings before every flight, a surprise visit from the POTUS can destroy long made plans for a family trip or whatever. A POTUS visit effectively shuts down all airports and much of airport business within many miles of the airport being visited.

As a pilot, I am no fan of our kings ostentatious wealth.

I grew up in the flight path of a NORAD AFB, and had F-102s, F-106s, C-119s, C-124s and various other aircraft to watch and hear almost daily. Becasue of AFJROTC and Civil Air Patrol, I got to fly in a few different types of USAF aircraft, and meet the Thunderbirds a couple times. Now I live not too far from Whiteman AFB, and we get B2 flyovers for the KC Chiefs game at the stadium, also not too distant. Those bad boys make me glad I live in America and not some target afar.

But the planes that truly get me going are the Warthogs. God's gift to the Infantry. I can spot those from just the sound, same as I can a slick.
