It is worth noting CO law does not give a "No Guns" sign the force of law.
I found out it was a "gun free zone". Doesn't matter if the sign has the force of law behind it or not, most CCW people will follow the rules. The nut cases don't.

As it happens, the Century 16 theaters at 14300 E. Alameda Ave in Aurora, Colorado are owned by Cinemark Century Theaters, headquartered in Plano, Texas, and for several years this chain movie theater has told customers they are not welcome to bring their firearms into theaters.

The main stream Media is screaming for more gun control. I remember the assault weapon ban back in the 70's. This is not good.

In a thread about a shooting? Really?

    Right idea, wrong grid.

Thanks for your service. There is a proper thread to make an into post telling us about yourself and your exploits. I'm sure you saw it in the SOPs that you read, right?

I don't support the Liberal elite so I never go to the movies. Body armor or not someoone shooting back at him would have caused some adjustment in his op plan.

I have no idea of percentages, but where the "No Guns" sign doesn't have the force of law, A LOT of CC holders "don't see the sign." Agree or disagree, many feel the only downside is getting asked to leave or getting banned, while if you NEED the gun, the upside is it could save your life.

IMO, the setting of the massacre is key. Mass murderers typically look for easy prey. A midnight opening of Batman isn't as likely to have a lot of CCs. Most of the attendees seem to be teens, early twenties geek types.

Apparently the shooter --an honor graduate in Neurobiology and recently working on his Ph.D. (although they say he got himself into "deep trouble" on his thesis work) -- gave the police a "joker" reference about himself and they claim he had died his hair and goatee red on occasion (if not on this freak-out escapade). I'm getting close to claiming dibs on the "WTF?" trophy for deducing that this character was smitten by the "chaos is beautiful" theory posed by the Joker character in The Dark Knight film.

Who knows, maybe he had a know-it-all professor in the Colorado grad school that trashed his thesis and ridiculed him in front of people. Maybe he got tired of watching the news and Entertainment shows showing a parade of costumed clowns at midnight movie premieres. Maybe his blown thesis was researching people obsessing with and dressing up like a movie superhero, and who post for weeks and months on Facebook about how they can't wait for the movie to open, and who sit in line for weeks to be the first one to get in. Maybe his GF or BF sold his opening night tickets on eBay and spent the money on blow.

It's a rotten situation for sure, but I'm glad for once we have a breathing mass-shooting suspect in custody that apparently isn't a loon off his meds (like at VA Tech and the Arizona mall) -- maybe he'll be able to shed some light on what went on in his unhappy little mind.

Honor grad, Ph.D. candidate or not, anyone who goes on a shooting spree in a crowded movie theater qualifies as a "loon" no different than Va Tech, Arizona, Columbine, etc.

The more I hear about this, the more I think what a nightmare situation it was.A dark theater, a guy with armor,--I am not sure if a few armed SEALS or Rangers would have been able to save many people. It would depend on where you were sitting and who you were with. This is just tragic all the way around.I can't help but think if the guy came through that door and was armed only with a Machete in each hand --he may have killed a dozen people before anyone could take him down.

Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people with a Ryder truck and fertilizer.

The Twin Towers were taken down with box cutters.
