Gawdawful Fooking Injumeer Dogs!!!

I'm the owner of two big 150# Anatolian shepherd dogs. I love these two unruly and aggressive bastards. Those who don't know Anatolia shepherds, they are big dogs. Kinda like large white labs with a German shepherd personality.

But these two free range bastards are fucking miners. They have 100s of acres to roam and only dig holes in the yard. In a day they can dig 5 semi foxholes. 1'-2' feet deep, maybe 5' long, and 3'-4' wide.

Who's got experience with breaking this habit? I can't just throw habanero pepper powder all over the yard because my grandkids play there and one is only a 2 year old.

I'm about to get them declawed on the front paws.

I've hit them both with the hotshot for digging. But the pricks are smart enough not to dig when I am around now.

If they dig in the same general places. Sprinkle some ground hananero pepper on the dirt. Guarantee they'll stop digging.

I won't do anything to break their spirit. Beating them after the fact is useless. These guys and I are the first line of defense. If I break them, they are useless and might as well be shitty little 5# chipoopomtoyoodle dogs. My Tom turkey or peacock would eat those dogs

My dogs dig for prey all over the edges of my yard. Thankfully they're small dogs and they dig small holes cause I can't stop them.

They lay in the holes, then decide the ground might be cooler in another area and go dig a hole to lay in there.

I'm going to put a water mister in a remote corner and merely cede that area to them.

I've heard tell of a 60-year old Ranger in Comfort, TX that enjoys dirt work.


If ya want to make it easy for him (or you, if Bell's busy on the register) just get a small Bobcat and re-level the yard every other day or so. It's summer in Texas... is there really anything growing out there?

Another thought: put in a 99.5 acre lake with the house on an island in the middle.

Put a shock collar on them and bury food around the yard and when they try to dig the food up shock the hell out of them. Do the same thing for a area in the shade you don't mind them digging but don't shock them reward them.

You want the dogs...the dogs want to dig. You have a place your dogs like to dig, it sounds like a win, win situation to me. What if you lived in an apartment, where could the dogs you love dig? could you even have two big dogs?

Remember when you were a little kid, making roads for your toy truck in a pile of dirt, making a big mess? Did you give a fuck about the big mess?

You said your dogs only dig when your not around.

You are the Alfa dog in your dog's pack, and believe me, you and your dogs are a pack. When you go somewhere without your pack, the pack gets frustrated because they are not with their leader, so they do things to ease the frustration, and hopefully you will start taking them with you when you leave, or you'll stay home with them.

You wanted the dogs but you wont take them with you, but more realistically, you can't take them with you. Fuck the yard, let them enjoy themselves, and you enjoy them when and while you can.

When they die, big dogs do not live all that long, then you can plant a nice lawn, put in a fake looking pond with an even faker looking waterfall, and some nice posies here and there, all will be wonderful.

Myself, I'd rather have the dogs and the holes, but everyone is different...I guess.

These traits make it challenging as a pet; owners of dogs of this breed must socialize the dogs to turn them into appropriate companions. They are intelligent and can learn quickly but might choose not to obey. According to Turkish shepherds, three Anatolian Shepherd Dogs are capable of overcoming a pack of wolves and injuring one or two of them. These dogs like to roam, as they were bred to travel with their herd and to leave the herd to go hunt for predators before the predators could attack the flock. Therefore it is recommended to micro-chip and tag pets. This breed is not recommended for living in small quarters. They do well with other animals, including cats if they are introduced while still a puppy and have their own space. They are very loving and loyal animals who do well with children. They mature between 18–30 months. Both puppies and adults seem to have little interest in fetching or chewing. Rather, they prefer to run and sometimes swim.

Fill sandbags from the loose dirt and put them around the holes.....instant quick fighting positions!!!!
