    Question Commemorative Deployment Pistol

Can anyone recommend a good company to order a Commemorative Deployment Pistol?

I am looking for a 1911, with a small amount of engraving.

I am trying STI right now out of Georgetown Texas, not sure how it will work out. I tried Kimber on my last deployment but they were a pain to try to communicate with.

I want to get a decent pistol but also keep it at a price that the "Joes" can afford one. Probably looking to order between 20-30.

I can't offer any help other than a thought to contemplate: if ya really want to keep the cost down, maybe customized grips would be easier/cheaper than engraved frame or slide. It's not permanent, but...

My unit got double stack ParaOrd .45s back in 08 and I think they were trying to get S&W .45s the last time we went. Check with Springfield Armory. They make a good looking GI 1911 and are great pistols with a decent price.

You'll never hear me bad mouth SA. Keep in mind the Remington is not the same as the Remington Rand that was produced in mass quantities when they had the contract back in WW2. Those pistols from then were of very good quality. Not too familiar with STI. SIG on the other hand, made great pistols. Quite pricey though. I have a 226 TACOPS, a 229 and a mosquito.

Have you thought about a mass pistol buy, with engraving done afterwards? There are two (that I know of) companies in TX that engrave weapons, one near San Antonio and another near Dallas.

In 07-08 we, 82nd, went with the Para Ordanance .45.
Desert tan paint, Match Barrel, Match Trigger, 5 magazines (Double stack) engraving along the slide "All American" and RC(E) /CJTF-82 engraving on the back... total package value was a little over $1300. We paid 695 each.

They were the only ones to work a deal of that magnitude.
The guy who was organizing it for this deployment tried to go with Sig Sauer and all they were offering was full price for the pistol with 1x engraving on back of slide. No one bought.

How about Colt...they're back BIG in the civilian market, and still run by a retired 3-star Marine? Might be worth a "look see". Good Luck brother!

not to change gears too much for you but I headed up a group buy for my BN and we got custom AR's from Superior Arms. We got custom engraved lowers on both sides and custom SN's. Complete rifles were under $800 shipped. I'll try and find some pics

on one side I got our patch from our flight suit, the horse head or "Pale Horse" and on the other side is our unit SSI. Neat story about our BN flight patch, we were in OIF 06-08 well Rev 6-8 you know from the Bible is the "Behold a Pale Horse, on upon him sat death" verse. Well we were TF Mustang our BN call sign was Pale Horse Kewl huh?

The reason I posted in your group pistol buy thread is because we started out wanting to get pistols. After contacting several manufacturers and realizing that it was gonna be much more money and all we would be getting is engraved grips on most, I gave some AR companies a try. Superior Arms came through with great support and I ended up sending him about $100,000 worth of bussiness. Good luck
