You can tell that Staff Sergeant on the far right is a real operator. Who else knows why?

How come they didn't land on the rooftop like they do in the movies?

You guys sound like the worst CSM I ever met during my military career - his whole focus in life was to either reprimand somebody for having their hands in their pockets or for not having found a lone cigarette butt lying around somewhere in the battalion area. The battalion commander he served with was also a pogue which earned them the title of "The Douchebag and the Dufflebag." One day they came in and found that 'somebody' had taken a duffle bag filled with wadded up paper and painted a smiley face on it, and had also painted a smiley face to an inflated prophylactic and tethered both to the BC's precious banana tree with that smelly a$$ three-toed sloth outside the battalion HQs. The poor SDO/SDNCO took a broadside for not knowing how the two items had gotten placed there, and the inquiries began. They never could find who did it, but we all knew and life around there was like a scene out of "The Caine Mutiny" or a HUAC investigation until those two DEROS'd.

Wish I could've been on that Mont St Michel jump...but then there would've been two guys with their hands in their pockets.

    And so it goes...

The best part of being in a leg INF unit in Germany was I got to use my BDU pockets as the designer intended them. Walking in-step in straight lines, keeping hands out of pockets, and wearing hats that have no function are my personal pet peeves. I hated all that parade ground bullshit. Let soldiers be soldiers. Leave the rest to Finance and Supply clerks. YMMV.

The hands in your pocket thing was such a big deal in the 90's that my Wife who was only in for a year or so and got out almost 20 years ago immediately caught it in the picture, AND she's a leg office pogue

Hands in your pocket thing was kinda big at Bat in the 80's too. I sewed my pockets shut on the starches.
