Natick is working on a new item for the TA-50 inventory, the Battle Operations nonOrganic Breastfeeding Individual Enabling System (BOOBIES). It will consist of: Sling, Infant, Type I Olive Drab M1; then to go with it, Pump, Breast, Infant Sustenance M1A1, there will be an A2 model with NBC tube soon to come.

An airborne version with lowering line for infant and feeder is on the drawing board.

They're a couple of Air Guard moms who are now in trouble with their command for being in uniform and being used to publicly support a 'cause' like that against regs. Remember the LTG Boykin foofarah? I'll bet those two reservists are now going, "What were we thinking?"

Well, if you purchase a hands-free pumping top (like this one from SimpleWishes.com), you'll have both hands free to do other stuff. Here are some suggestions:
    Read a book or magazine
    Make a phone call
    Upload photos
    Update your baby book
    Crochet a scarf
    Play with baby
Eat dinner (or lunch or a snack)
Chat with other moms in our forums
There are even some super-portable hands-free pumps on the market now, like the Medela Freestyle. This one is tiny and hooks to your belt, so you have both hands free and can walk around chasing babies, cleaning the house, or whatever you want. (But even if you do go hands-free, don't be afraid to use pumping as an excuse for a few minutes of “me time” -- you deserve it.)

I have no issue with a mother breastfeeding, nor do I see it as unprofessional. Hell, before the invention of bottles, that's how every baby survived.

But, I don't understand the purpose of making this huge "in your face" production about it. If you're at work, go somewhere private, or with other mothers or women, use a blanket to provide some privacy, and let the little ankle-biter latch on and get fed. You can do what you need to do without creating a whole public display or issue about it. It's not like you've got to flop them out on the table during NCOPD to get the job done.

Damn Straight, Purp. Breast feeding is not the issue. It's the uniform and it being used to publicly support a cause. This is why we do not attend political rally events in uniform.

I believe that these females had no idea it was forbidden to use the uniform to promote a cause-because it's the Air Guard and the only regulations they read are rules to the DFAC and the command climate is probably pretty lax. They are probably on first name basis with the chain of command.

I can see it now. They enter the commander's office without knocking for the Art 15 hearing.

Squardron Commander: I am so sorry girls... But it's the Wing Commander-he is making me do this to save his own ass. It's all political..."
Female Airmen: "This sucks I want to call my congressmen..."
Squadron Commander: Use my phone, will you put in a good word for me? You guys will still come to my party this weekend right? My life-partner Steve is bringing in the strippers again."
