Virginia's veterans are getting new IDs to help them take advantage of special discount programs.
Gov. Bob McDonnell will launch a new Virginia Veterans ID Card today during an event at the McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond.
McDonnell's administration created the new identification card to serve as proof of veteran status. It can be used to obtain discounts at stores, state parks and other businesses.
The DMV 2 Go mobile, customer-service center will be available to process applications for the new cards.

Now you just have to put up with the line at the DMV. And $10?? I've got a VA id card and a retired Army id card. I 'spouse it's a good idea for vets without other id, but $10??

You can do it on line. Around hear you can save a lot of money on discounts. I hope the other states follow suit.
