"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value."

Oh f*ck!
Tonight I can say I'm glad you're not coming to the Sizzler together.
On other thought... maybe you should.
"I pledge allegiance to no caliber in particular, for as long it can push my assailant's brains out of his ass, permanently precluding his/her chances of reproduction with addition of displaced testicles or uterus".
(Some crazy motherf*cker ex-commie paratrooper in private interview to ...pretty much ...nobody).
You, crazy f*cks (and take it as a compliment!) are so f*ckin' scientific in your approach to the caliber, you plainly overlook the lack of progress in "homo sapiens" natural defenses: cranium is not getting thicker or growing kevlar over it; balls are hanging the way they were 10K years ago (and I believe wearing the briefs weakens the "suspension"), and upper torso is not developing natural Level III armor.
Anything that gets through, is well worth considering.
Love ya, Bros!
Lol..dude you rock...you defend 9mm by telling me about all the larger calibers you have and what you could do with them.. That is classic..:). hey to each his own brother. I have to agree with Raven. The cranial vault hasn't changed so as long as you can accurately put lead on target your GTG. Especially if your close and you don't have to shoot through any cover...lol

The 9x19mm Luger or parabellum was originally designed for the Luger P08 pistol. The name Parabellum is derived from the Latin: Si vis pacem, para bellum ("If you seek peace, prepare for war"), which was the motto of DWM the German weapons manufacturer Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken. Wikipedia.
When I pointed out the qualities of those European (the Hi Power was partly the brain child of John Moses Browning) pistols, they happened to be in 9x19mm Parabellum. I was not necessarily praising the caliber. It was the superb design and manufacturing of those pistols. Personally, I happen to really like the 10mm Auto. It beats the hell out of the .45ACP which even back in the day lacked effectiveness when in the full metal jacket configuration just like the 9x19mm Parabellum in full metal jacket. Now when you start making hollow point rounds and increase the velocity to weight ration you start seeing some interesting developments in terminal ballistics.
I collect guns because of their qualities in design and manufacture and aesthetic qualities. Not to get into pissing contests over caliber. To each his own.

I confess: I always liked and admired Beretta (M9/92F/92FS). I almost bought one, when my buddy offered me his Kimber.
I also re-discovered Makarov, since I could have more fun with it on my own, unlike under the strict supervision of CO on heavily regulated Regiment's range.
And got to like Walthers as result of above.
But 1911 to me is what America is all about (IMHO): unstoppably powerful, not taking shit from anyone, trusted and reliable.
It also fits my hand (and so personality).
Thank God and America for Freedom of Choice we have here.
(And so the Freedom of Speech, including teases and rogue jokes).
I look forward seeing your masterpieces at The Sizzler, Brother, and hope to shoot some, sharing my Kimber with you and anyone who's interested.
Keep the thread going, while I'll go pee standing up tall and proud, wearing my .45 (OK, JK).![]()
Ricardus,
I am just flicking some crap back at ya. I am not a huge fan of the 9mm due to some of its limitations but all calibers have limitations. I do agree there are beautiful firearms chambered in 9mm and the 9mm is a great round for a subgun. The 10mm is a kick ass round. I remember when the 10 became popular in LEO duty weapons and the feds started carrying them. I wish it would have caught on more. At the end of the day I won't pass up a chance to shoot or own any make, model or caliber :)
I look forward to updates on the performance of your baby.

I always wanted a Bren Ten. It worked for Sonny Crockett... 'til they cheesed out and made him carry a big white Smith 645.
We were the kids who would jump off a bridge if our friends did it.
Zanshin....but Sonny started in the pilot with a Sig 220.
