DATELINE June 5, 1944, London

General Alfred E. Scheisskopf, CDBI (Cheif, Department of Bright Ideas) regretfully announced that the invasion of France, originally planned for today has had to be postponed due to inclement weather; however, he assured reporters during an unofficial briefing he was sure the weather would clear tomorrow and there was plenty of time to take advantage of the moon and the tides in the Normandy area which make the June 5 and June 6 block the only time the combined airborne and seaborne invasion along the fifty-mile stretch of French Coast along the Cotentin Penninsula could succeed for the next month or so.


"Don't worry," Scheisskopf said with confidence. "All the troops are on their ships ready to go, the paratroopers are standing by their aircraft waiting to load up. Sure, it's frustrating, getting emotionally set to go and having it delayed, but if we can get a brief window of clear weather tomorrow we still have time to get the paratroopers in the air and on their DZs (Drop Zones) around St. Mere Eglise and along the Merderet River in the early morning hours of June 6 to block German reinforcements from getting to our landing beaches between Caen and Cherbourg.

General Scheisskopf went on to explain that he was confident the Germans had no idea the Allied forces are coming at Normandy because of the elaborate hoax Allied Intelligence has pulled off opposite the Pas de Calais with a phony army supposedly under the command of LTG George S. Patton, "Jerry thinks he's leading the invasion, but we're saving him to command a new army to be activated after we break out of the beach head." From a Top Secret device known only as "Ultra" Allied High Command knows the Germans are also convinced the weather will continue to be nasty so won't expect the attack now.
