Somehow I doubt if the Academy is going to get too excited about that film.
Also, I happen to like my heavy, seven round, stainless steel, 1911.
I look at it this way, if you fire a 45 caliber round in anyone's direction, if you don't hit em, they are going to clear the area anyway. You don't need all that much ammo to get the job done.

I have had a 1911 for 50 years.I love them, but that video is hilarious and slap my face --there is some truth to it.
That's why I like my Glock 30SF better.

For home defense, 1911 is great, but if you got to pack, Glock wins hands down.

I've always like 1911s and they're a hoot to shoot.
But yes, there are reasons why I don't use one for everyday carry and the video mentions a few of them.

Here is my response. I really appreciate the contribution that John Moses Browning made, and continues to make, however, when it comes to a cost - to benefit ratio, I will go with the above pistol. How do you beat 3x15 round magazines that ship with the pistol. High night sights so you can see above the can and the possibility of a dot sight.
It is one thing to be retro when one selects a rifle but pistols are used in a pinch when the SreallyHTF! Shoots right out of the box - no damn breaking in period. This is for the bug out kit when concealed carry is no longer an issue.

Didn't Han Solo carry one of those?

If I'd known this was gonna turn into a 1911 hate fest, I'd have just kept the vid to myself.Bunch'a freaking haters. I remember when Glock hit the scene; it helped get the anti-gun crowds panties all in a wad with "Oh my God, a plastic gun, now we're all gonna die".
Actually, I can't say shit, I've never pulled the trigger on a Glock of any type. I do have to give them credit for not going ape-shit over prices like most 1911 shops; you'd think they were making them outta gold or something. Would like to try a "plastic" Ruger or Glock cause if nothing else, that 1911 is like carrying a concealed boat anchor after a while.
I for one certainly don't hate 911's. I just sold one a couple of months ago. They are just rather heavy and are really picky about ammo in some cases. I bought a gun recently that has the best trigger I have pulled and that is the relatively new Walther PPQ in 9mm. If you get a chance to shoot it, I think you will like it.
I have several pistols of different makes and none are bad so far.

Ain't no hate in this thread, brother; just a lot of good old-fashioned ball busting.
However, I do know people who worship Glocks simply because they're popular, and I know people who hate them for exactly the same reason. They're both stupid.
"Oh, you only bought a Glock because everyone thinks they're cool."
No, asshole, I bought it because I tried out about a dozen different pistols and revolvers--after doing a shitload of research--and I got the best results with a G30.
One good thing about them Glocks and such, when oil hits $200/barrel, you can melt them plastic guns down and run 'em in your diesel engines while you still crack heads with a steel frame.
We were the kids who would jump off a bridge if our friends did it.
Don't get me wrong, my next pistol is going to be a Les Baer 1911 Boss or a LB Monolithic Heavyweight with the 1.5 inch accuracy package. I don't hate Glocks, however, I would rather have a Walther PPQ. The ergonomics and the trigger and reset are excellent. There is a place for all these pistols!
