Oh silly Ops....we know we will never see another TRUE "peacetime" Army. Were at war, and will stay that way. The world is to fucked up, and we are such a "Peace keeping" country, that we feel the need to invoke our "peace" on everyone else in the world.

Fuck the UN, fuck the Geneva conventions.....protect OUR SOIL!

My son has 12 or 14 "personal" PMAGS either purchased or gifted. Don't know if his Brigade issues them, but I'm pissed that some dipshit decided to screw the pooch on this. The PMAGS are a superior product(the article mentioned that 75 Rgr Regiment has adopted them as well as other SOF units)and they should be allowed to "supplement" the GI aluminum mags. Hopefully MagPul makes some major noise on this and this directive is pulled or,at least, modified to allow the use of the PMAGS. Unbelievable how stupid these people can be!

You know, I hope you're right, and the wartime mentality doesn't go away.

How else do you keep Soldiers occupied when there isn't a war? Some stupid fuck came out with tiles that are naturally shiny, our boots are rough side out, and until the new 670-1 comes out, we can't iron uniforms. That leaves making sure rocks are raked parallel to Butner Road, mowing the same grass every day, and making sure stationary shit is painted.

All the high ups keep talking about the transition to the "peacetime" Army. As a matter of fact it's all they can talk about. They also say that we have great soldiers who kick the snot out of any bad guy put in front of them.

My question of course, is why you would make sweeping, demoralizing decisions to change that. Apparently it has begun.

    But what do I know...I'm just a ell-tee.

Gee, I just had a flashback from the worst of "peacetime Army" days at the end of the USSR.
Oh, wait, it didn't ended with Russians' pullout of Afghanistan in '89.
There were 2 Chechnya wars soon after and ongoing anti-terror "activities".

So, "peace on Earth" my arse.
There is no such thing, unless we pussy up under the rock and let tangos take over: from openly in Middle East, South Asia and Africa, to infiltrating and destroying our lifestyle from within.

    What's next: "Peaceful Army"?.

    Freakin' election bullsh*t.

P.S. Anyone, start an apparel called "Pussy Up!", portraying our whoring politicians at their worst.
P.P.S. Pardon me while I slip into something respectful, like "Ranger Up!" t-shirt.
P.P.P.S.: Kudos to our Brothers and Sisters in Uniforms, who brush off this BS and doing what they do best: keeping us safe and sound!

Looks like Big Green reversed (or, as they put it, "clarified") their position...

    2. Issue: TACOM has become aware of units ordering 30 rd. commercial (i.e. polymer, etc.) magazines for their M4/M16 family of weapons. The M4/M16 Army authorized magazines are the following: NSN 1005-00-561-7200 (improved magazine) and NSN 1005-00-921-5004 (older magazine; use until exhaustion).

    3. User Actions: TM 9-1005-319-10, the Additional Authorized List (AAL), states that NSN 1005-00-921-5004 is authorized, as well as NSN 1005-00-561-7200. Units may use the older magazine NSN 1005-00-921-5004 with the green follower until exhausted. The improved magazine is available in stock, NSN 1005-00-561-7200, and has a tan follower. The improved magazine features an improved follower and follower spring. These new features help to reduce the risk of magazine-related stoppages. Units are only authorized to use the Army authorized magazines listed in the technical manuals. Remember; "tan-is the plan, green-start to lean, black-take it back." Magazines with the black follower are the oldest and should be turned in to your unit supply sergeant or local supply point.

    4. Unit Commanders, contact your local TACOM LCMC Logistics Assistance Representative (LAR) or your State Surface Maintenance Manager upon receipt of this message for assistance. For assistance in locating your TACOM LCMC LAR, see below.

I have received no such order to stop using PMAGs. I have seen many articles and posts but no order has made its way down the pipe. When I have access to the restricted areas, I will post the truth as I see it, not fit for public consumption.
