    Wrong.

Coming from someone that actually works in the tourist industry, I can say that stateement is wrong. Taht is NOT what the reservation and confirmation process is for. Same thing goes with people renting cars or getting on an airplane. Just because the reservation is made and it is paid for does not mean anyone can come in and use it. Okay so there is a reservation for Joe Blow and it is pre-paid. Some guy walks in with an I.D. card that says he is Joe Blow and the clerk is just supposed to hand over the keys to the room? Nope. Give me $50 buck and 24 hours and I can have a I.D card with my picture and the name of Joe Blow on it. What it sounds like to me is based on the information given and please keep in mind I wasn't there and we have only heard one side of the story. You need to understand that there are checks and balanaces. There are also Auditing issues. Ususally with Non-profit folks or Tax I.D> folks that are gettiing a room or renting a car or something like that have all the documents they need. I get it all the time where people come to the counter and say they are tax exempt or something along those lines. 9 times out of 10 they have all the proper documents to back that up.

What I get out of this story is, the Organization fucked up. They sent the guy in there and didn't give him all the paperwork and what not that he needed. The "night clerk" that people seem to be bashing here sounds like he did his job and was following the policies and procedures of the company that he worked for. that is wrong?

To be honest, I bet that if this guy wasn't a Veteran people wouldn't care less. Seriously, when you walk into a Motel 6 do you expect the guy behind the counter to automatically give you a seat? did the Army Vet ask for a seat? Was the night clerk expected to read minds?

Again, sounds to me like the clerk was following policy. Sounds like the Organization fucked up and sent the Joe in there nopt prepared. If this cat wasn't a Vet then this would never be a thread. If anyone should be mad at anyone they should be mad at the Organization.

    Just my .02.

Ok, since I don't work in the business but have made use of the facilities, to me that is what the reservation and confirmation process is for. Maybe I'm out of touch with reality; it has been almost 10 years since I made a reservation and it wasn't at a large chain outfit but all I did when I got there was give them my confirmation # and fill out the card. Like I said, I don't even remember showing them id cause I pulled out the reservation/confirmation printout. Now leave me the fuck alone while I go wallow in my self righteous pity.

Your story is interesting for sure. But it is what it is. I've been screwed at hotel and motel and boarding houses and B&Bs before. Not always my fault for sure. But! It is what it is. You deal with it and don't even think of putting that silly shit on the internet.

I believe someone is taking up a cause that has no push. Sorry.

In fact, if I'd walked blisters onto my feet and was faced with something like that? I'd have just said fuck it and moved off into the woodline with my poncho and liner. Made a fire, sipped some coffee, smoked a cigarette, rolled up and conked out. Got up in the morning, treated blisters and moved out.
Exactly...But dont forget to throat chop the clerk first, you'll sleep better

    LOL.

It's all about security and identity protection. Companies have to take SO many precautions because if there is just one fuck up and there is a chance of theft or identity theft that can cause a lawsuit it is all over. So big companies like the one I work for has a huge team of lawyers that write up all the legal bullshit and them policies and procedures are in place. They are there to protect the company and the customer. They usually can cause an a hassle to the most folks but all it takes is one asshole to fuck it up for everyone else. Kind of like warning labels on shit. There probably wouldn't be a warning label on hair dryers telling you not to use them in the shower unless some fuck nut out there tried it and either died got got seriously fucked up and then went and sued or the family sued the maker of the dryer. Same idea.

I still say...an advance party from the GHO could have
averted any problem with this man checking in.

IMHO...it was poor planning...and a warrior paid the price.

Hmmmm....I know that scenario from somewhere....
