Default Hi Ho, Hi Ho It's Off To The Range I Go

Got to check out this new recoil and hammer spring on my 1911. Got tired of needing a Popeye arm to rack the slide. Plus, I picked up an 8 round mag from Wolf, one from PSI, a PowerMag from Chip McCormick and one from Mec-Gar. My old 8 rounders were cheap, worn out and doing FTF's so it was definitely time to replace so thought I would get a selection and figure out which one my pistola liked to feed from best.

Well, back from the range. It's nice when it's only a mile or so down the road. I listen for the firing to die out and then go; I know there will be lanes open then. The SA1911A1 and its Crimson Trace handgrips will still notch a gnats ass at 50 feet ; shoots better than my eye can hold the group. Unfortunately, the Mec-Gar mag did an FTF twice, both times failing to fully, feed the 7th round out of 8. Not sure what's up cause the mag is made by the same company that makes the PSI and the Wolf. I'll have to really look at them and then send this one back to try and get my money back or another mag. Not an indication of the mag quality, it is really nice, tight and well built(sounds like I'm describing a woman ), my 1911 just doesn't like it for some reason.

Oh, the new recoil spring cut down on a bit of the slide banging going back into battery, not quite as violent. The new hammer spring seems to work fine. I don't need to take steroids to pull the hammer back anymore. The trigger was already light and smooth since I stoned the trigger bow track and replaced the trigger, sear, sear spring and disconnector. It accomplished what I was looking for anyhow.

The Ruger Mark II is still tight on also; I just couldn't hold a group for shit today. All over the place, gotta get a new set of glasses. The damn bifocals are even out of focus now. Knock on wood but I've never had an FTF out of it since I've had it. It just keeps on ticking.

Nice grouping. The flyers were obviously ranging rounds. That's a good moa shooter you got there.

Here's one of mine from today. Should'a checked my sugar before I went. I couldn't hold a group for crap...plus I kept fiddling with the aimpoint. They say it's about 10m but I think it's closer to 25ft. I'm going to bring out my tape measure one day.

Good shooting guys. I went do some load development for my new rig. Trying to find the bullet/power combo the 243AI likes. 43g or R17 seem to work rather well pushing my 105 Amax 3180fps.

Try Wilson Combat mags...I use them in my Colt OM...NO issues at all. I will be getting them for my Gov't Model as well.

Really wish I'd had the foresight to go ahead and get about 5 acres a few years ago. Trouble is, when I started looking, owners all thought they were going to get rich and move to South Beach. $40K an acre can kiss my ass.

Nothing wrong with a sheet of copy paper and a magic marker.

Awsome, remind me to stay outta your watermelon patch....
I'm thinking I can go by a few acres of up and down land, put a little cabin on it, power with a generator and an old fashioned outhouse. Just some place to go and bust caps against the hillside or sit and watch the animals. Don't need a lot, an 8x8 or 10x10 from Lowes or where ever would be just fine. Insulate a little, put in a couple of lights with the generator and maybe a small ceiling fan if it gets too hot. Hell, maybe even a solar panel or 2. Maybe one of those small wind turbines or something. Hmmm......have to think about this. Store a month or 2 of MREs, some fresh water and an old fashioned hand pump. My own little zombie apocalypse escape zone. Lot of places to do it around here; trouble is, we have enough of dregs here, definitely need a couple of black guns, some shot guns, another couple of handguns.

Oh well, wishful thinking, maybe thinking a bit too extravagantly. How did this get so off topic???
