I have a 3G Kindle. I love it. It's handy as hell and not too big. The case I bought is powered off the kindle and lights the screen well.

My wife has a nook and uses it some. Not as much as I do, but then again she isn't big on reading anyway.

I had found those reviews, thanks Jeff but I also wanted my fellow knuckledraggers' and other APO members' opinions since I don't always agree with the "critics" out there.

Ended up with the Kindle Touch, non-3G one. I didn't want the glare screen of the Fire or the iPad with its other attributes (I have a laptop for that stuff). For me this is going to be regulated to books only, like my iPod classic has my 200 CDs of tunes on it and that's its only job.

First book on deck is Dalton Fury's Killing B.L.

Thanks for everyone's input, I appreciate it. AATW!

True, now that I"m shooting RAW, my 64GB would be gone in a flash (no pun intended - ok, it was...)

I have friends that have the nook and the kindle - they are both cool. I just want as few electronics as possible. Everyone already calls me the bag lady - I always have my camera backpack with me, generally my purse + if I'm at church I have my tote with my church stuff (serve on a few committees, etc.) and if I"m at work I have my laptop too...it's insane.

Now you just need a shopping cart to put it all in.

Friends have Kindles, my family has evil Ipads. Ipads work good for porn too, FYI.
Either way, readers are getting to be dirt cheap. I downloaded a shitload of FM's and other books a few years back when I got my old Sony E book reader.

For those still interested, Kindle Fire with an Amazon Prime ($80 a yr) beats the iPad any generation, Prime has tons of TV shows, and books for free on top of the free shipping and deals Amazon has, loved my trial. will resub as soon as it's feasible

I was all hot to get a Kindle (screw Apple) for textbooks until I found out what a frickin' SCAM etexts are. University texts are already too much money, IMO. Add the adjective "medical" to that and the pricetags get stupid, fast. And they're heavy and bulky - only so much room in the ruck.

Anyway, etexts dealt with both issues and I had read good stuff about the Kindle with that E-ink making reading even in bright sunlight eye-strain free. Then I looked at the fine print. A one to two year license and poof! there goes your book. Limited printing for note taking, etc.

eTexts are a good idea waiting for some common sense and a little less greed to happen, I guess. /rant

When they come out with a porn compatible Nook they are going to label it the Nook-E.

The hippo is unpredictable and aggressive with old scars and fresh, deep wounds providing signs of daily fights that are accompanied by much bellowing, neighing and snorting.
