Everything I've seen on these leads me to believe that you can only jump these off the back ramp... please tell me this is true. Or do they actually jump the tiny side doors?

Correct. Only a ramp jump. Even at that, its not really a ramp, the floor just ends. Not a fun jump. Ive JM'ed them several times and its a pretty sketchy jump with a standard-bite grip and not a reverse-bite grip. (As with all other ramps) Also the door is waayyyyy too small to get out of. My advise: Dont jump them unless you have to. If someone told you that they exited a C-23 Sherpa from the door kick them in the sack and carry on.

Don't they have a front door too? In front of the prop? If you are really hard core, jump that one. Just sayin' .....

The jump door is the rear. Free fall can go from the Port (Left) door. Port door for static line is emergencies only. Starboard (Right) door is Verboten for any use. I JM these alot they suck alot, especially for the the JM there is absolutely nothing to hold on to.
The diagram in FM 3-21.220 is reversed, hook up with a normal bite on the starboard cable, so the static line should be routed over the jumpers left shoulder for JMPI and then hooked up (as you look at the ramp after standing) to the left cable with the opening gate facing left. Walk off don't jump or you will smash your dome.
It's fixed in the new FM but it's taking forever to come back from the editor to publish.
I JMed one of these a week ago, almost fell out of the damn thing transitioning to the door when we hit some turbulence. For some reason the opening shock seems to be more intense than the CASA (for me at least).
We're still using the reverse bight in the 95th, but we are using the starboard cable. So I guess information moves slowly...
Amen it's the only plane I've almost fell out of.
It's never been a reverse bite in the FM. The current FM says normal bite. I think it's because of where the static line stop is, so if you use a reverse bite the static line hasn't reached the stop when you are off the ramp so you get a whipping effect of the static line reaching the end of the anchor line cable while you are off the ramp in the first point of performance.
Oh god I'm jumping one of these tomorrow with a crash10, lord help me.

There is something new for me. When did we start using the Sherpa? I do remember seeing a Casa 212 on yellow ramp back in the mid 80s
