Default DEP Primeraman- Mentoring Update Thread

Per RH's guidance, I am starting this thread for a running update/sitrep site for Primeraman's journey forward.

*David, this will be where I want to see PT scores (upcoming PFT 04/21), contract changes, training experiences, etc etc from here till you ship. Remember OPSEC and PERSEC in any posts made. No posting full names, pictures of active duty soldiers that assist you, and anything else that may be detrimental in the wrong hands as this forum is not secure like the back rooms. If anyone else has something to add to that, please feel free to round it out.

*That being said, as many of you saw in his Intro thread, he has been given a golden opportunity to prepare himself. KH has volunteered to work with him and I to make sure he has the best chance as success. There will be opportunities for observing some Battle Drills, planning and operational classes, and the chance to have a leg up that I wish I would have had when I joined. KH is also offering to get him in touch with a few PT studs to help keep him accountable for his personal training, and hopefully smoke him into the ground a few hundred times before he moves out. Can't begin to express my gratitude for Kilted's offer, and can't say enough that David had better make the most out of this massive opportunity to prepare.

I was wondering where and when this thread would start. After talking directly to KH I feel incredibly lucky to have this opportunity in front of me. I will keep this thread updated with my journey which is about to take off. Thanks again guys.

As a friend of someone that had a Nephew start the 18X Program and having the Heathen take him under his wing and provided guidance to him provided a leg up so to speak and gave him the insight on what they need to do to complete the course.

    This is an excellent program

IMO it all comes down to this: It doesn't matter how much you know, you still have to do it. Now the question is: Will you?

Best of luck. You have a lot of outstanding folks on your side.

Wish I had this kind of support when I was young. And dumb. (And older and dumb.)

Then again, probably would have just got my ass beat and left at the side of a road...

We were the kids who would jump off a bridge if our friends did it.

Thanks again guys. Between IED, KH, and the rest of you guys I feel like I've got a lot of support. I won't let you guys down. I've also got to give a shout out to my recruiters. They are a great group and have really worked hard for me throughout the process. I'm going to the PX next week with one of them to get my first pair of boots, some socks, and whatever else they have that I might decide I need.

If you get where you want to go, don't let those guys down and that will be thanks enough for me and I expect many of us here.

Get foot powder too, although you don't need a PX for that.

He's on his way to the MEPs hotel tonight and renegotiating his contract for the OPT 4 tomorrow.

He is familiiarizing himself with the following:

Formations and Order of Movement (FOOM)
    React to Ambush
    Recon
    React to Contact
    Break Contact
    Patrol Base Activities
    Linear Ambush

We are coordinating a time for him to come to MUTC so I can pitch the classes to him in person but he has all the PP diagrams and narratives.

Sorry guys. I've been in the process of moving. So I ran my 2 mile outdoors this time. I've been trying to do more running outside to adjust for change in elevation, terrain, and air quality. I had to push myself hard but was able to get the time down to just over 15 minutes. 15:07 to be exact. I am glad for the slight improvement, but I still need to make it faster. Everything else actually went down a little bit. I attribute most of this due to my upper body still being very sore after a full day of rest before my PT test.

    Pushups: 76

    Situps: 72

Pullups: 12 (Along with my run this was the hardest)

I'm heading in to MEPS tomorrow to renegotiate my contract and hopefully have Airborne (Option 4) added in. I will let you guys know what happens with that. I talked to KiltedHeathen today for awhile and he has given me more advice on how to continue and push on to my objective.
