Is that the area over near green ramp where we did our lock downs on EDREs? Those fucking things sucked, or maybe it was being locked down inside that fence doing nothing when you weren't doing rehearsals or battle drills.

C-LAK. Don't remember what the letters were or what they stood for but it was pronounced see-lak.

That's it! God I hated that fucking place. I have never been so happy to hear someone say "let's go, time to WALK to Pope".

I remember the Florida trips - we got to stay in platoon-sized canvas tents on Homestead AFB - with about 2 inches of rain on the ground! Never did get to kick any hippy asses, though!

I think most of us preferred Old Division compared to the Main Division areas. In my day (early 70's), Old Division was upper class compared to the barracks we bunked in at Ft. Benning.

The old barracks at Jump School were so ratty, I had a hole in the 2nd floor next to my bunk I could fall through to the first floor. Could only get out on one side without putting my life in danger. Back when Leonard B. Scott III was a CPT just back from RVN and our company CO.

skywalker, did you see the Wikipedia article on the gun? They claim a max. firing rate of 1 round per minute. I would hate to face my PSG if the best we could turn out was 1 RPM. I would also hate to gun against a tank for real and think I had that much time before a second shot should the first miss or not disable it. The backblast scorched an arrow in the ground pointing right at the ass of your jeep for all to see. If you couldn't get off a fast 2nd shot, you'd better be moving...

I think he was LTC. Scott of Jump School when I went through in'85. He wrote a book that I bought too. Charlie Mike or something?

Back in MY day... he was the King of Cool... so laid back I couldn't believe I was still in the Army.

He called me into his office on the 4th day of Jump Week and told me I was being recruited for Pathfinder School. Still kicking myself I didn't take it.
