Very interesting reading. It's great that your Father wrote down his experiences. A bit of history from WWII that will be available for years to come. My Uncle served aboard the U.S.S. Nevada which was part of the Pacific Fleet that shelled the Isands in the Pacific. He was aboard when the Nevada was hit by a Jap Kamakazie off Guadacanal. He survived but lost a lot of Shipmates including a very close friend. He had a deep hatred for Japs after the War.

Thanks! My Father has been gone eleven years now and I'm thankful that he was willing to write it all down. It has already gone through several re-writes and I'm in the process of converting it to HTML. Hopefully I'll catch any of the remaining typos! Eventually, I'd like to publish it and since it is only 97 pages, I'm looking at Amazon as a possible option.

Your Uncle is a Hero in my eye! The Navy caught hell in the South Pacific. I'm thankful for his, and all members of the Greatest Generation for their service and sacrifice.

Priceless! You have some great memories that your father left you with. I only wish my own father had written a similar journal. He's been gone eighteen years already.

Hi there, in March I joined this forum because of my dear dad who served as a Paratrooper in WW11 with photo's and an historical one of the Japanese surrendering in Singapore, a photograph my dad took from the balconey of the Civic building. My dad , I'm glad to say, is still alive and will be 89 in September :d I love looking at the old photo's when I go to my dad's, such memories, I'm in awe of all the troops who serve their countries, whether it be the past, present or the future. Unfortunately, I couldn't read the transcripts as I have a bad eye, causing some vision problems, but I hope to read them soon when my eye settles down.

Very interesting reading. We need to have the histories recorded for all the veterans. I myself, since I can not afford to self publish or anything have started a blog - pacificparatrooper.wordpress.com to record a condensed version of all the data I accumulated over the years, photos and letters of my father in the 11th Airborne, 187th regiment.
