When I kneel, feels like getting stung by a bee

Last few weeks the symptoms have become more frequent and more painful. Doctor believes it's something like Osgood-Schlatter Disease, although I'm way beyond the typical age of manifestation. Today - this morning - I awoke to VERY bad pain; called in from work and took my remaining percosets. Have been alternating from ice to cold.

The pain presents just at the top of the tibia, but with a lot of pain outside and below the knee cap. Will keep everyone informed in case anyone else gets something like this. But wowo - talk about PAIN.

Anyone else have anything like this?

Got plenty of aches and pains but nothing like that. Mine is mostly nerve damage and mostly affects the lower leg, ankle or foot. Not fun, but not fatal either.

I have experienced this pain in both knees and have been diagnosed with a Left (and Right) Lateral Torn Miniscus. The left is worse than the right and a cortisone injection made it feel better.

You can only hope it's something like this. I wish you well.

Had a torn right miniscus. It won't get better on it's own. Torn is torn. Pain comes from the torn pieses flipping up and getting into the contact area. Have a 'scope done where they go in and trim all the torn, ragged edges up and you'll be like new.

thanks guys - researching torn minisuc online; my knee doesn't follow most of the symptoms. Will know more tomorrow though. I hope its something surgery can fix. Keep in mind, I left Active duty in part to chronic knee pain. Going to continue documenting to build a case, if applicable, for the VA.

I had the same thing plus I was slow pitch catcher for 18yrs,then smacked my knee into a slab of 2"thick steel swelling would never go away.Had it scoped there it was torn minisuc also about time time 92' i was going to start to sport jump dr said no way.so all my jumps from the 70's is all i'm ever going to see.good luck on ur knee's

You are a little old for growing pains. My son had Osgood-Schlatter and it was hoorible persistant aches for him instead of action induced acute pain.

What over the counter product works best for it?

I used to have that pain,now I have Titainium...Problem solved.

My advice....Stop kneeling.... easy-peasy it's simple and easy to remember.

Yup, severe maniscul tear in my left, moderate tear in my right. Though, no one wants to do an MRI to properly show what is torn where. Had an old doc tell me she was 99% on them being tears but had to schedule a xray before an MRI. The xray didnt show anything, like she said it wouldnt. However, before I could get the MRI scheduled, she went on leave then PCS'ed. Then next doc said "um...its just runners knee" Stay off it for a week and it's all nice a shiny again.

I get a stabbing pain , like kneeling on glass thats under my skin... wtf ya gonna do?

My advice....Stop kneeling.... easy-peasy it's simple and easy to remember.

I got lucky and got an Air Force doc at the army hospital. Army wanted me to continue physical therapy but the doc knew with a meniscal tear of my type the only remedy is a 'scope.

Sometimes I get a sharp pain in my left elbow like that. I tend to just avoid that elbow or grin and bear it. I probably banged it off of something at some point, knowing me.

Possibly be Patellar Tracking Disorder. The Sx & Sx are: A dull ache under, around, and/or at the outer edges of the kneecap, sometimes called patellofemoral pain syndrome. This is often made worse by using the stairs (especially going down stairs), sitting for long periods, and squatting.

• A popping, grinding, slipping, or catching of the kneecap as the knee bends or extends. A grinding or popping sensation may develop before painful symptoms start or may not occur at all. If you have kneecap popping or grinding without pain, see the Prevention section of this topic for stretching and strengthening exercises.
• Swelling of the knee, in some cases.
• The knee buckling or "giving way," as though the knee suddenly won't support your weight.
• Or....you could just have inflamation of the bursa behind the knee cap. Anti-inflamatories, ice, rest are tha basic solutions.
