    Default Corcoran desert jump boots

Okay, time for the newb/leg question of the day!

What's the general consensus on the desert jump boots made by Corcoran? Looking at old posts, I can't quite gauge the reaction. Does anybody wear them at all? And lastly, is there still a taboo on nonAirborne types wearing jump boots?

I'll be curious to hear how it is now. About 25 years ago, you only wore jump boots with your class A's.

IMHO, jump boots are not for anything but Garrison wear. I liked my Converses overseas, some good ole' Altima style or actual Altima desert boots with the heel shit cut out are great, but I'm not wearing anything uncomfortable on my feet when I'm fighting because my feet are my life.

Not really practical aside from looking decent and being annotated as being "Jump Boots." As IED said, theyre mainly for garrison wear. Ive had them and trust me thats all theyre worth. And of course the black ones for our Class A and dress uni's. I've seen leg cats wearing them and I just kinda roll my eyes. You shouldnt catch shit for being a leg and wearing them. Grab yourself a good set of Merrells for the field with some extra socks and leave the Corcorans for the dog and pony show IMO.

I ask because I was given a pair of the brown Corcorans a while back, just for wearing around, and once they were broken in, I really liked them, plus they look better than my issue boots. Is your issue with them comfort or just general wearability?

Brother, go do a 12 mile hump with 50+ on your back in under 2.5 hours with those things on and then send me the picture of the hamburger you used to call feet. They aren't worth spit when it comes to moving constantly. The Army, in it's infinite wisdom, has given some good guidance on footwear for good reasons. War tends to do that.

I say again, your feet are your life in the Infantry. Better take care of them. Oh, and if the sarcasm in my post isn't clear, the whole boot is not good for anything but garrison wear. Period. They're your feet though.

Be wise. Heed the advice, young Jedi. Only wear those things in garrison.

Again, he's right. It hurts to walk to the office next door quickly in those damn things. I think they llok sharp but thats pretty much it. They suck for tread/traction (because they have none) and they are not comfortable in thed least bit for walking around all day let a lone a hump. As big Mike said though....they're your stumps.

During AIT we had some Cadets from West Point show up, one of them (assigned to a different platoon) had some huge after market soles attached to his jump boots. I don't recall much about them other than they looked ridiculous.

+1 about them being garrison only and then only when the weather was nice. I didn't wear them in the winter, we had mountain boots issued to us in Alaska.

In the heel cup of the Altima boots (they are jungle boot style) there is cardboard. If you carefully cut it out, it softens the back of the boot some. I'll try to find an old pair of mine I did up and get a picture posted on here.

Damn, I just spent half an hour writing about Cochran jump boots, I lost the whole fucking thing, so I started over. I had it completely finished and lost that to. Fuck!

I'll do it again in M Word, then copy and past it over.

Thanks to JoBa, I ordered a pair a while back from a site he posted, waiting for them because off the ankle support they give. . Once they were broke in I thought they were great when I was in.This is rattle snake time and It will take me some time to brake them in ,but I perfer them to my cowboy,or logging or snake boots. Now I have to admit,I don't plan on going into combat or running a five K with them.

PS --besides $145 for size 14 DDD is a damn good price !
