All you have to remember is the mission goal. Keep yourself focused on the short target. One day at a time and drive on to the objective.

Remember it matters who you associate yourself with!!!
I remember being awed at how much retarded shit I saw other recruits do that first week of in-processing at Johnson Hall. Playing First Blood in the bathroom 'cause they thought that's what the cool thing was in Infantry... don't be stupid, stay away from stupid people.
Why tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at deaths door?
The more I know, the more I know I don't know.
If not you then who?

I didn't think of this when I replied to his post above, but 26 years ago, I left for OSUT on 5 Feb 86...

" Get out of that door you Goddamn piece of shit" and than I felt the kick of the boot on my skinny ass and the small of my back- it broke my grasp of the tower door and out I went screaming like a little girl
Good luck, bro.
I remember going through the exact same process as you - the forums, the contract seeking. All I can say, is don't be a dumbass like I was and lose your contract, absolute focus, fuck the quitters.
Never quit.
Mentee to Ranger Har / Ferret_LE426
Hello everyone, I was lucky enough to get my phone in 30th ag this weekend! It's amazing how big of a culture shock you get just coming in, not to mention the immaturity of a lot of guys here. They're all good guys, but I'm the only one with an Opt 40, so while they are focused on getting past OSUT and going home, I feel more strapped in for the long haul. I have a job to accomplish, and there's no way home until I accomplish it. All the same, I'm looking forward to getting real training, and seeing my buddies get more squared away.
Good job, Keep going!

Ranger Har, let me know when he gets to BAC and I'll look in on him for you.
LIKE MY DAD TOLD ME ,KEEP UR HEAD DOWN,SHOOT STRIGHTWHEN U HAVE & KEEP UR POWDER HORN DRY. GGOD LUCK ,NOW MOVE OUT.
Good Luck, Young Man. I know you're excited, and any real man would be excited. If you want to know the truth, this FOG is more than a little envious. I'd do it ALL over again in a heartbeat. Remember everything Ranger Har has told you, and remember, as well, all the great advice you have just received here. It doesn't mean as much to you now, but it soon will mean a hell of a lot! Airborne! All The Way!
Proud to be a Vietnam Veteran.
Everything through Airborne School is little shit. Something you have to do to get where you're going. RIP is gonna be brutal. No doubt. They don't want you there. And you'll know it immediately. Drive on. It's just another thang to get where you're going. Never lose sight of the missions objective. One day at a time.
