    Default Taliban peace talks renewed...

Well... really don't know what to say about this farce. Let me exercise my intuitive powers... we go to the table with peace talks... the Taliban leadership waiver and waffle until finally they "accept" terms of the BHO peace treaty. Everything is declared a victory and the Taliban are defeated. The second the last troop flies out of the country, a huge Civil War starts AGAIN and the Taliban go right back to their old ways. But it's ok, we've lost Brothers and friends in that shithole...but we'll all pretend everything is ok and skip hand in hand through the valley of denial.

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration is moving ahead with plans for negotiating with the Taliban, confident that talks offer the best chance to end the 10-year-old war in Afghanistan. But the military worries things are moving too fast, and intelligence agencies offered a gloomy prognosis in their latest Afghanistan report.
Several current and former U.S. officials said the most substantive give-and-take to date between U.S. and Taliban negotiators could happen in the next week, with the goal of establishing what the U.S. calls confidence-building measures -- specific steps that the U.S. and the insurgents agree to take ahead of formal talks. Those talks, if they ever take place, would include the United States, the Taliban and the Afghan government of President Hamid Karzai, a senior US official said.

Accurate prediction of the future Magnet. There is no effing way the Taliban are going to honor any "agreement". It's a farce, and Obama knows it. He just wants to get re-elected.

I'm with you "Christian Knight". I want the shit to be done, but I'd prefer a total defeat of the enemy. Which is not going to happen under the current regime and ROE. I don't even want to think about what the shit is like now, but I remember driving by a convoy of Taliban in '07 and not being able to do shit about it because they weren't in a fighting mood.

No treaty... scorch them till they quit. Period.

I was wondering when someone would notice that. I have an infidel shirt and was thinking of having that put on some.

I saw it right before I posted, and it helps when you speak the language. Though there are times I'd like to forget it.

Following this path is a "win-win" for Obama. If the talks go nowhere(which is probably going to be the case), he says " we tried and will not extend our committment of combat operations past Dec 2014". If( a BIG "if")they can put together a bullshit agreement he can say.. "I'll get the troops home a year earlier than planned and peace is at hand"(can you see the campaign ads?). Barry has nothing to lose!

This shouldn't go to a decision. Someone needs to tap out or get choked out. How is it that the people doing the fighting don't get a say but the folks on the side lines are the deciders.

Let the military do the military, and politicians do the lying. Gone are the days where the Generals and senior leadership on the ground get control of the forces. They are making decisions from Washington about what a Rifleman under fire in Qalat are to do. It's bullshit.
