    Default Enlistment progress/update

Well, thanks to Mortarman11C, I have been hooked up with a recruiter who's from the 82nd and that's Hooah about ACTUALLY helping me and not just rushing me in. I have an insane amount of stress lifted off my mind.

I was picked up by the SSG that is now my recruiter and driven out to his recruiting station yesterday morninng. I filled out 30 some forms, got my fingerprints scanned and just generally talked about some jobs or options dealing with 18x or something with Option 40. Still hoping that God sees fit to shit out ONE random 11X slot out of nowhere for me but if not at least I should have the opportunity to train for para anyhow and a chance for even more.

Just really wanted to say that this site is awesome for networking. I can't believe that you guys found me a good recruiter that's not only pretty close but hunts AND punches his laptop when it doesn't work just like me . I'll give you another update after my, "DLAB," and I go digging for jobs.

    Never quit.

Good Luck. The DLAB was the only test I've ever taken that I absolutely, no excuses, flat out failed, with the utmost high, flying colors. I believe it really is something you are born with or not. You either have the apptitude or you don't. Obviously I don't.

Forgive this FOG. DLAB is an acronym I don't recognize. Can you help me out on that one? When I was 18 years old I hadn't even been in any type of aircraft yet, and here I was volunteering to jump out of one. I worked hard and I think the comradery of the rest of the guys helped since we were all in the same situation. We were all trying to mask sheer terror...;^)

Well just got a call that says apparently I won't be taking the DLAB til Ft. Bragg, so apparently after my info clears tomorrow or by tuesday he suspects, I'll be good to go. He said, "Somethin's fucky with the fingerprints processing right now, but it happens. Just sit tight." Wilco :/

No DLAB until Bragg? Does that mean you are entering the 18x pipeline?

I maxed the ASVAB and walked out of the DLAB not knowing what was up or 4. That thing screwed me up, I was so confused but ended up scoring ok.

Yeah it's looking that way. The recruiter Mortarman set me up with says it would be more ass backwards then even the Army to take a lesser opportunity. lol I still kinda wish I could just go 11X then airborne then earn my way to selection or to ranger school, but apparently, it will be the case with 18x anyhow. I dunno. Anyone else have some thoughts on it? It's worrying me that somehow if I go v.w. somehow for injury or what not or if I am a 3 week completed non-select or however you call it that I'll get jammed doing some less frontal infantry job and that's really not what I want.

Don't do it. You really have to want it to make it through. Gnawing at the bit, breaking the straps, rarin' ta go NOW attitude. I don't see it. Same with Ranger school/Batt. Go airborne infantryman and when you get more motivated then put in for it. Just know now that it's not that easy - you don't just put papers in and then go. At that point it's all up to your commander if he'll let you go IF he gets a slot.
