    Default 525th LRS

Hello everyone. I posted on here several month's ago asking questions about the National Guard LRS unit in Indiana, however I decided to go active and I signed an 11x with an Option 40. I have been researching the active side of LRS and I believe this is what I would like to. Being on a small team is something that I would like to be a part of. I know that I cant change my contract but if I contact Charlie Company would i be able to drop the Option 40 and get orders to the 1-38th? Also, does anyone have a contact number for Charlie Company? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Soup sandwich.

I see you headed for "needs of the army" the minute you drop out of something because you changed your mind or it's too tough or.....

I hope you find a way to drop that Option 40. I really do. It'll let someone who really wants it have the chance.

Roger that Ranger Bell. I did not take the Option 40 with any intentions of dropping it. It would be a great honor to serve with the Rangers. As I mentioned, I just recently became aware of the active side of LRS and would like the opportunity to be a part of those teams. However, I understand that many people want the Option 40 and can not one, so I will keep my 40 and continue to work towards that.

Do not drop your option 40 for a slim chance to go to 1-38th....

Stay with what you have and work hard to get into Regiment..

You would be completely luck of the draw to get in C Troop 1/38 as thousands are inprocessing Bragg..If you called me and i was the 1sg and you werent even in the army, i would tell you to stop bothering me and best of luck and call me when you have orders to bragg. Big problem is that you dont even know if that unit will be on bragg by the time you got there. They could be full or deployed...

Bottom line...Get to REGT, you will never regret it. It could mean pulling police call for hours on bragg boulevard vs going on target every night downrange and killing people who mean us harm.....your call

Thank you for the info Italyjumper1. I have decided that I do not want to cheat myself or cheat someone else out of the Opt 40.

You haven't got it yet. You don't "work towards that". You go do it. A totally different mindset.

I've said it many times.....We didn't become the men we are because we were Rangers. We became Rangers because we are the men we are.

Roger Ranger Bell. What I meant by "continue to work towards" was working on my pt and studying the Ranger Handbook. I thank you for your words and I will use them to achieve my goal.

I think you really need to figure out what YOU want before you do it.

Here is what I get out of you so far.

You join this site in May. Yo upost and intro stating that you are in the beginning stages of joining the Guard cause you want to be LRS. At that time yo uhad not signed a contract yet.

Now it is 7 month later. With in that 7 months you have signed a contract to go active. You have an Option 40 Contract.

Today you post a new thread stating you don't want that Option 40 you want to back to pursuing LRS.

With in less than 1 hour a Ranger on this site calls you a soup sandwich and within that same hour you want to keep your Option 40 because you don't want to cheat someone else? WTF??

I am going to straight up with you man. You need to get your head in the game before you ship. working on PT and reading the Ranger Handbook is good. You can do that all day everday for a lifetime. Christ you can memorize that book from cover to cover and max out your PT scores. But stud, if your mind is not in the game you will fail. The Army and I mean the Army, that means EVERY school and unit that comes with it is mostly about the brain. It is a mindset.
Ranger Bell said it best. Those men became Rangers because of the Men they were, they didn't pop out of Moms vagina with a tab or a scroll, well maybe Heathen was but then again I don't think he came out of a vagaina. I think he was granted life by Lucifer himself.

Seriously though. You really need to understand the mindset. Look at it this way. You started a post where you wanted to quit your contract, then with in less than an hour after one comment you were willing to quit that and go back to what you originally had. You mind is just not there. Drill Sgts, Black Hats and RI's will feed off of you.

Yes work on the PT, study the Handbook, but read the soldiers manual as well. Talk to those that have been there and learn from them. Mos timprotantlyu, grow a set of balls and back bone and when you make a decision, stand by it. What ever you do for Big Green be proud of it and then Charlie Mike.

Enough beating a dead horse here. Just get your mind in the game before you want the coach to put you in. Got it?

It's gonna take a shit ton more than words to prove that fact. I suggest you PT like a mad man, and get acquainted with pain. Not getting through the pipe line due to poor preparation or quitting would just be robbing someone else of the slot and opportunity.

Ranger Santo Tomas I know I brought it upon myself and I will take the criticism. I was interested in LRS because I have read posts in this forum and a few books about the Vietnam era LRRP. I dont know how comparable or even if they are comparable with present day LRS. From what I have read the LRRP men were Rangers and what eventually became the 75th Ranger Regiment. That is why I was interested in both. If I have presented any false info about the LRRP or the 75th I will take my punishment for that too. From here on eyes and ears open, mouth shut.

What you need to do is master the basics before you go anywhere else.
