I was in the ROK when his Dad dies. I remember that whole deal about the promise of being buried in Seoul. Yeah we got issued Ice Packs and were sent to the Imjin River. They were pulling the 506th south of the River. We were all along that river waiting to see if the Million man army crossed. Never happened of course. About 3 or 4 hours after sitting there, I remember the trucks coming to get us as we were being pulled back to the perimeter of Seoul. They wanted us to "protect the capitiol" Yeah right. Two understrength Infantry Battalions, a bunch of Tanks and Mech Units protecting a city the Size of Rhode Island, against a Million Man Army. Our closest back up was the 25th in Hawaii and the Marines in Japan, but knowing the 82nd and Ranger would be the first ones there. We figured all they would do is find our bodies. LOL

The one thing that erally stands out in my mind though is, while we were loading the trucks at the River by Freedom Bridge, we drove off watching the ROK army guys. They were checking the explosive witiring on the Tank Drops on the Northern part of the River. I remember thinkning that. Shit, if those fuckers come South, these poor bastard have no where to go. It was November and the River was high and cold as fuck. I think they knew it. They had to. I gained a shit load of respect for the ROK guys up North that day. The only americans that stayed North of the River that day was the JSA guys. The KATUSA's in our truck just looked at the bed of the truck. Never looked up. To this day I wonder what wsa going through thier heads.

Crazy day that was.
