Default Help! Going to BAC as a cadet.

Nice to meet y'all.I'm a cadet at one of the service academies (not USMA). Some of my friends and myself want to attend BAC this coming summer (might have to give up leave to do it, but it'd be worth it). If anyone on this site has any insights or pointers on how to get this approved, can you post or shoot me a PM? Thanks so much. Happy Holidays!SemperGumby

Gumby, since the Mods are nestled all snug in their beds.......I'll assist you. First, head over to the intro threads, read a few, and then post your own. We like to know who we are chatting with and will get back with you about your questions once you've introduced yourself to us. There is a wealth of knowledge here and plenty who have BTDT.

    Thanks.

Semper - As P-chop said, we'll need an acceptable introduction before we can help you.

I'll lock this thread until you post an intro, then any of the mods will be happy to unlock it so we can help you out.

USCGA may have training quotas for BAC. Your training section should be willing to help. Can you go into another branch at graduation, or is USCG your only choice?

I've only seen one Coast Guard Sailor here at the school in all my time.

Hey guys. I just got a message from cadet training that jump school wouldn't be a viable option because it doesn't meet the CG training objectives. With that being said, I'm still determined to go to jump school. I plan on going on my leave period during the summer, which is three weeks long. Do you guys know of anyone else I could contact about the program? I plan on talking to cadet training next week but additional points of contact would be much appreciated

There was once a time when you could "easily" walk-on to a jump school class. However, I don't believe that's still the case. And, I'd imagine that would be quite difficult as a cadet, since someone has to pay for your slot.

However, we've got a couple of Black Hats here who, I am sure, will be able to give you the real scoop on the feasibility of what you're looking to do. Squat and hold...

I cannot ever remember anyone from the "Hooligan Navy" (took Coney Island w/o losing a man in WW2 ) coming through the BAC during my time there. With the current focus to "re-size" the military and increase the "Light Fighting Airborne" Army, I would think the goal you've set for yourself might be an even more a difficult one. But good luck!
