Thanks. I've always wondered how the new gear works.

Isn't this the part where all us old timers are supposed to start in "Well, back in the day..."

Back in the day...we used ALICE Clips...then again when I arrived in Germany I was issued my first suspender harness that was made circa early Vietnam; we had c Rats dated the Korean Conflict, and my first M16 was a vintage late 60s complete with open birdcage and triangle forearm, we had polyester OD Grn uniforms, some units had ERTL Camo, Jungle Fatigues were for the really cool kids stationed at Ft Benning boys club and at Ft Bragg, the first issue BDUs came out and they weighted something close to the red/black Woolrich wool hunting outfit with collars that gave flashbacks to Leisure Suits, 6 color choco chip was high speed for vaca trips to Egypt a la Bright Star.

How's that for old timer memories....and btw the way I am not old I am experienced.

That sounds like when I went in,... 'cept I was issued the old OD green cotton fatigues that had to be starched, and the C-Rats still had smokes in them!

Do you still remember when they went from the quill to the fountain pen?... Or do you still remember the wax tablets?

I used the ink in a jar...and a turkey quill...

Not only has a lot of dust accumulated but there is a lot of scars, aches, pains and new parts that have been picked up along the way...and am damn glad when both feet hit the floor and there is hot coffee in the AM; those mean its a good day.
