    Default Warrant Officer Candidate questions

I had a few questions about getting back into the Army as a warrant. I ETS'd honorably in 1998. Since then I have been a law enforcement officer. I was looking into the possibility of going back in as a warrant officer. I was wondering what the age limit was for prior service to enlist as a Warrant Candidate as I just turned 37. I guess the answer to this question will open up further questions I have.

    Airbrnebkr,
You cannot "enlist" back into the Army as a Warrant Officer. You will have to come back in as enlisted and then apply to become a Warrant Officer. I don't think there's an ager waiver...I remember some guys older than I am now (44) when I went through.

Your local recruiter would handle this. Ask him for updated info.

    Jeff,
I'm pretty sure the only thing his recruiter would be able to help him with is if he would be willing to go to flight school...but, I doubt it with him being prior service.

You're right Chief, the recruiter is responsible for WO flight packets for both prior-service (having gone through it) and non-prior service. I think all other WO's must come from enlisted ranks as they must already be specialists in their field. (He didn't state what type of warrant he would be trying for.)

    Jeff,
You are absolutely correct...he didn't mention what kind of WO he wanted to be; I assumed it wasn't aviation. Especially with him being 37. So, you're are or were a WO?

Little sidebar Chief: Could Biker with his LE experience possibly come back in as an MP and then put in a WO packet based on his MOS+civilian LE experience? Probably a question for a recruiter, but there are warrants on the CID-side of the MP Corps. //// Now, how's the 82d treating you over there brother? My guy is in the pipeline to get over to the 'Stan mid-year. He's with the Herd in Italy....they might be replacing some of you guys..who knows. BE SAFE Chief !

Hey, man....yeah, that's a good possibility. But, the Army is getting ready to drawdown tremendously...usually during drawdowns, they do not let prior service back in at all. But it's worth a try.

I'm doing good...thx for asking. I'm either working, sleeping or in the gym...nothing to write home about. :-) How you doing?

We had a warrant that deployed with us for our year-long stint in Bosnia. All he did was turn good(?) food into sh*t!
