    Default Intro - Eli

    My name is Eli

I am a DEP and have signed under 11X Opt. 4 (Airborne). I am 17 in my senior year of high school. I scored an 82 on my ASVAB with a GT of 121. My ship date to OSUT is ***** to Benning. My goal was to land an Opt. 40 but could not attain one due to the fact there are little out there. My neighbor is a former SF/Ranger Col. so he told me if he felt I was 110% ready, he would pull some strings and have Ranger recruiters pull me. I have a good idea what I'll be doing in Airborne and once I get to basic but can't back that statement up until I experience it first hand. I'm hoping to get to know a few DEP's with the same ship date as me during my stay on this site.

    Height: 6'1
    Weight: 179

5 Mile: 43 Minutes (Terrain Running)
    Pushups: 57 in 2 minutes
    Situps: 61 in 2 minutes

Thank Rangers, Paratroopers, Soldiers, for your dedication and love of country. I strive one day to stand among your ranks and thrive off of all instruction and suggestions directed towards me.

Good Intro and thanks for stepping up. I hope you accomplish everything you want to do.

A man who has nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance at being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Tell us some more Eli. What state are you in? Were you in JROTC in high school?

Have you fought a tiger yet? If not, there is no true way to gauge your readiness. Find a tiger immediately, antagonize it, and post the results here.

Oh yeah... welcome, thank you for standing up. Since you're under age, bring me a Pepsi.... CHOP CHOP

    Jump master Santo Tomas,

I live in San Diego, CA. I live about a quarter miles from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and 30 minutes from Camp Pendelton.
I live in a VERY populated Navy/Marine community.
And unfortunately no, I did not attend JROTC. I am on AKO every day though so I am on track to go in as an E3.

Also, I'm not 100% sure how to edit my post and add this, but how would I enroll in the mentor program? I believe it would be a great influence and accountability for me.

I'm sure we can get you a mentor bubba. No worries...one thing I want to stress though is this. You need to be able to hold yourself accountable, and not require anyone else to do so for you. Learn the Army values, and live by them. One of my favorites is Integrity.... everything else just sort of falls into place after that one.

    IEDmagnet,

I didn't mean to come off sounding like I only can accomplish a task if I'm held accountable. To clarify, I feel as if I go beyond my potential if I know someone is monitoring my results. But it is something I will work on.
Back to your other post, I have to say I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Brought me back to the "Ranger School Promo" series on YouTube.
