This just makes me sick, not only is this guy now a self admitted liar about his service, he tried to use it to discredit a 16 year old girl whom he ia accused of raping who was volunteering in the Toys for Tots program with the Marine Corps.

As a father of 2 girls I want to eviscerate asshats like this. The poor kid was distraught that no one first believed her and tried to commit suicide after she reported it.

He was stationed in South Carolina, Texas and California, where he was discharged honorably in August 1988 on the broad basis of a "personality disorder." During much of the period he claimed to have served, from 1988 to 1992, Walls actually lived in Ohio.

I'd like to see the discharge paperwork. What the reporter is describing as the "broad basis of a 'personality disorder' ", is actually a specific psychiatric diagnosis. Personality Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified IS a specific diagnosis in the DSM-IV manual. It just doesn't tease out what type of personality disorder (Paranoid, Borderline, Antisocial, etc). If he has an actual diagnosis, then wouldn't that make it a medical discharge? It may also give a clue to his subsequent behavior that we're seeing now - living in a fantasy world, inability to accept responsibility for actions, manipulative behavior, etc.

I feel terrible for the girl and her family.

If they find something like a personality disorder within 6 mos. of enlistment it is rather assumed to be pre-existing. That would qualify him for an ELS...Entry Level Seperation. Like your service never even happened.
