Default Need Help with Jump Log

I am hoping that someone here knows how to get jump logs corrected. I ETSed in 1999 and I know that not all of my jumps were logged (just the jumps I needed for pay). Are there archives of the jump manifests that can be cross referenced with my name and ss# to get all my jumps logged?

Nope....Units don't keep them forever so, Sadly it's the jumpers responsibility to ensure that their DA1307 is correct and updated after every jump.

It's probably the fault of some knucklehead OPS NCO in the head shed. You should have reviewed the log when clearing from the company. That is what I did. Hind site is always 20-20 I suppose

Yep! My unit gave me about 2 weeks to out process, they sent me to Ft Polk for some good ole training when I was month from getting out. I found out later that I missed out on some dental work that could have been done for free.

My question is, is it possible to recover a lost jump log?

The last I saw it was with the 173rd in Italy. I dont think I got a copy when I left. Wondering if they still have a record there or if they just trashed it since it has been a while.

I suggest you contact the HERD and they will let you know if they got a copy or where they sent to or if they have been destroyed.

The NCO that kept up our jump logs only listed jumps that qualified our pay for that quarter. He admitted that was all he had to do. I think the only way to keep an accurate log is to keep a personal log for yourself. I learned that too late. We could jump as many times as we wanted on a chopper blast day as long as they had chutes, but we only got credit for one jump on that day.

When I was working as the Air NCO I logged everything that they had a manifest for. If my Soldiers had a valid copy of a Manifest no matter who they jumped with I'd log it. It really sucks when you had a Jumpmaster Graduate that didn't have correct number of jumps from a High Performance Aircraft and had to go chase chutes to get their Senior Parachutist Badge.....I was lucky enough that I had plenty of harness time to get my Senior Wings with a Safety and my 2 AJ's. I felt like it was bullshit so I didn't want that happening to anyone.

When I was in the Ops Room, I had the same philosophy as you and worked real hard to make sure my guys' logs were accurate. But not all did. I think a big problem in the 80s was that there wasn't actually a TOE slot for the Ops NCO, so someone else (with another job) got "drafted" to perform the functions in addition to whatever else they did. The guy before me was the NBC NCO, and I was actually the company RTO. I hope they've fixed that. There's just too much bureaucracy and your guys always need someone to cut through the red tape to solve problems for them which, for me, was a big part of the job.

My last 6 months at Bragg I was the Schools NCO and filled in as Air NCO for a month. Me and the Air NCO (sat across from each other) ensured that every jump was logged into Jump logs. I remember spending hours talking to different units getting copies of Manifests since we had guys strap hanging after Kosovo trying to chase their Star or Wreath.
