My two pairs of cold weather Bellevilles issued at OSUT in March of '04 are still my favorite boots. Molded perfectly to my foot and I still trudge through snow on mountains in them.
Why tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at deaths door?
The more I know, the more I know I don't know.
If not you then who?

Sandy shut up. When were you last at SWC?
Otherwise check out these:
http://www.shopnewbalance.com/men/sh...ilitary/453MTN These are my favorite, I didn't pay that much though.
http://www.rockyboots.com/Product-De...ner_Duty_Boot/ Rocky C4 Trainers, second favorite.
http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/?cp=u...AID=1077119640 Lot's of people like these, I personally didn't care for them. Felt cheap and didn't have much support. They are no lighter than my OTB's.
And with all boots, I stick these in before any serious walking...
http://www.yoursole.com/products/footbeds/softec/ultra/ They are worth it! Try at least one pair
All three brands are practically identical in weight (LIGHT!!!) These are summer boots for rucking/PT/garrison. Not really for deployment to cold wx destinations.
The PX sold some insoles that you put in the oven then wore them so they shaped to your foot. Are these that? If so they are GREAT!!! Well worth the price. Got a set before going to Iraq and they DO MAKE a difference. The issue boot was fine, very very acceptable, but these insoles were the scheiz!
The very same Jeff!

Well crap, I can't make my mind up. I don't exactly want my boots falling apart after a half a year of use. I think I really like those New Balances but the price is a little steeper. Hmmm... Whatever I get I guess I will use those inserts that you guys seem to think pretty highly of.
It pays to take care of your feet pacman! Lemme see if I can find them cheaper for you...
Alright I appreciate it.
Also if you got fitted for boots when you were young, get them checked again to verify your size. I went in at 20 and wondered why my feet hurt more and more as I aged. Turns out I kept growing until I was about 25 years old. Ended up wearing an 11 1/2 boot. I went lots of miles with ill-fitting boots.
You will most likely go through several brands before you find the perfect boot. I like Oakley for everyday use(no roadmarching).

Well I have been at size 13 for about three years (I'm 6'3) and haven't grown much at all since then so I think I'm safe. But who cares, like you said I'm sure
I will go through plenty anyway.

How about $30 off!? Still not 'cheap' but I think you will be happy with them. They are barely heavier than running shoes. There are multiple drain holes on each boot and even the insoles drain water out right through them. There is a guard on the inside toe designed to provide longevity for FRIES ops.

Just ordered a pair a few minutes ago after finishing a ten miler in the sucky ole Adidas. Can't wait to break them in, if they need a break in period?
