Not to mention having the lead role in the High School musical.
A few years back I requested copies of ALL of my records. They only sent me copies of my DD-214 with a note saying they could not send/find any other records because they were destroyed.

Yea well I requested copies of my personnel file and all records associated with my name. I got my DD214 and my now famous brown recluse spider incident and thats it. I left in 2001? I didnt even fall into that fire time frame....huh weird???

Anyway My grandfather was WWII 90th Infantry vet. Lost an eye and had shrapnel from hed to toe. It was pretty obvious he got pretty F***ed up. No reccords for him either. Good thing was that He had all of his discharge papers and kept all originals of his documents. Still took forever for compensation. It was easy for me to validate his stories, for one I was an infantryman and two I knew alot of his buddies he served with as well. Never nay space shuttle door gunner stuff. When you get into all the crazy stuff people say sometimes it takes a trained eye to catch the little issues. Everyone here has that eye. Home girl above with the superman Grandpa not so much.

I think the fuckers are too lazy to go look for them.

You all are missing the main problem with the telling of this story. There is key information missing. Key intelligence that SHOULD have been investigated thoroughly before the initial post was placed on the site. Things that we really NEED to know.

Well if she believed all of that then I've got a story she is REALLY gonna love.

"There I was....no shit....knee deep in hand grenade pins and spent M16 and M60 brass. Surrounded on all sides by the enemy, and all I had left was a single M16 round, a rusty KBAR, and a plastic MRE spoon. There were thousands of them around us, and they had murder in their eyes. We had been stuck there for 17 days with no food or water, and the Air Force couldn't get in to resupply us because of the anti-aircraft fire from the enemy. What did I do? Well, I don't like to talk about it much......(sniff)......it brings up too many bad memories....(wiping the eyes)......we lost alot of good men out there......(looking off into the distance with a moment of silent rememberance).......but since you're so special to me I'll tell you. I used my MRE spoon to dig a trench out of the camp. The guys that were left followed me out, and once we got behind the enemy we flanked them with our flame throwers we made out of the rust from the broken KBAR, some MRE coffee, and the barrell of one of the deads M16. (Next part must be said with a broken voice) We took them all out.....I can still see their faces at night.....(sniff). The guy at the VA says the only thing that can help me get through it all is.....well.....I really don't want to burden you with this....no, really....I shouldn't put this on you, I mean we were just doing our job.....well......ok, since we've grown so close and connected so well, I guess it's ok to tell you. He says I have to play with boobies as often as possible, and that whoever lets me play with their boobies should also bring their friends to show me theirs as well. I hate it, but I'm doing what I can to get on with my life."

Nice little vignette Stump! But it couldn't have been a paratrooper if the Kabar was rusty! Besides don't most paratroopers carry Gerber's instead?

Stump, you ought'a write books for Amazon Kindle. You could sell stories like that for at least $0.99 each. As for the knife, I got my A.G. Russell that I'm surprised I never lost on a jump or got it stuck where the sun don't shine on all my typical 3 point landings.

Legs and non military wouldn't have caught the rusty Kabar comment, so it would have went over just fine. Especially if I had a hint of a tear in my eye when I told it.

We always referred to it as the "Tilted S**house" and the "B-COSCOM" as in "We can't do that because..."

On the other hand you have guys like my old man. I knew he served in WWII. He was what they called shell-shocked back then. He NEVER talked about the war. He kept meticulous records of his service. After he died, I looked though all of it and tried to trace his footsteps through the war. He fought with The 83rd Infantry Division from Omaha Beach (albeit 5 days after the initial landings) to Berlin through the end of the war. He was at the Battle of the Bulge at the same time my Father-in-Law was, with the 100th Infantry Division.

Among the list of accomplishments on his WD AGO 53-55 discharge papers were battles and campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe. A Purple Heart, EIB, CIB, American Theater Campaign Medal, EAMET Campaign Medal with five bronze stars, Victory medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

Never spoke a word about it. I figured out that's why he was deaf in one ear and had an impaired sense of balance.

15-20 snipers a night? I might be able to pluck 2-3 nose hairs a night before I get worn out and give up . . . but 15-20 snipers? eeerrrrrmmmmmm. . . . no.

I was 4-7 CAV in '00-'01, the only guys more 'North' than me were the JSA guys. We had bad things going on at our post, that I still sleep with a knife over, but I never talk about it even when I'm hammered, unless I'm with guys who've stared into the same shit. And I never once caught a slicky-boy or PRNKSOF sniper, they were all too busy ratfucking MREs, stealing movies and bourbon for Kim-Jong-Mentallyill.
