Exclamation APO Facebook Page - Threads linked from here...

Close it in, men (and ladies). First two ranks take a knee. We've got a little word to put out.

As you may have heard, the staff (particularly Yrualeg and RH) are working diligently to get the APO Store up and running. As you also know, we have an APO page on Facebook and a Twitter feed. Rocket1972 is in charge of promoting the site through social media. As such, he occasionally links threads from the open area of the site to Facebook. Obviously, this is to continue to raise the awareness of the site. As previously mentioned, as our membership grows, our ability to participate in and sponsor annual events and donate to worthy veteran causes also increases.

Rocket generally picks topics of broader general interest to put on Facebook. We know that, once a thread is linked to FB, the potential viewing audience can grow exponentially. (I know many of you, like myself, will "like" or "share" a FB post, which extends the potential audience out very quickly.) Because we want to make sure the threads that are linked show APO in a generally positive light, we've put in a couple of "safety features".

First, when Rocket links a thread to FB or Twitter, he will mention this in the thread, so we all know the thread is now being seen elsewhere. This is just to make everyone aware, so no one gets too crazy and starts talking about sleeping with goats or killing midgets or anything.

Second, I've now given Rocket the ability and authority (along with the rest of the staff) to kill a post should something too egregious be put in a thread that's also on FB or Twitter. So, should someone put something in a linked thread that we feel puts the site in a negative light, we'll have the ability to deal with it quickly.

Just to be clear, you don't have to "sanitize" your responses or contributions in a FB/Twitter linked thread. It's still a paratrooper house, after all. Just be mindful when a thread has been linked. If Rocket (as he tends to monitor the linked threads in particular) happens to kill a post, don't sweat it. Nor does it mean that anyone is necessarily in any trouble. We just wanted a "break in case of glass" option should a linked thread go completely south.

By the way, you Facebook members, if you haven't already, need to come over to the APO FB site and join up: http://www.facebook.com/Paratroopers

PS - Same for you Twits on Twitter as well...
