Silverback, I happen to disagree with you and your argument; the AL; DAV, and the VFW exist to help fellow Vets through the chasm of VA Bureaucracy, which many of us Veterans have experienced it's heavy handidness and utter apathy toward our Veterans and their Disabilities on a whole.

When it became a side effect of having a Traumatic Brain Injury amongst other eide effects like Epilepsy to name the most prevalent of them. It is a known fact that lack of sleep, stress, and not taking ones anti-Seizure medicines are high potential situations for having a potentially live threatening Seizure. I had a 3 1/2 seizure a few years ago due to some factor and I ask you this would you like to put your loved ones through such a long seizure that could result in your death? And to answer your question I had taken my meds that night so that long seizure just happened; so if you think that I must be to blame nope didn't happen.

Yes, there is even fraud and missuse regarding claims for vet benefits I have to agree; but unfortaunately like all systems/programs you'll have the bad apples among those that really need the assistance. Maybe that is why it such a pain in the ass to prove one's disabitlity claim with the VA; because it believes you are trying to get something from it when in fact your claim is legit.

I PM'd my thoughts to IEDMagnet when he got mad at me. I don't think the VA needs to get axed, I just think we (America) need to account for the reduce revenue we are generating. I am retired and I am a VA patient so I have a vested interest in what happens here. My main point (before I started ranting) was that EVERY government program should be picked apart and waste should be identified and stricken. Plain and simple. I went to a "Operation Iraqi Freedom" discussion group and it turns out that the guys/girls in there were being compensated for PTSD. Listening to those TICKS talk made me sick to my stomach. The only reason they were going is so they could "Get that check". I have made it very clear that I do not think everyone who goes to VA is a scumbag and I do not think that every disabled veteran is full of horse manure, I do know that of the people I witnessed at a VA...there is a LOT of cutting that could take place.

You might be right. The frustrations are understandable when you see the billions wasted every year. I'm for eliminating whole depts(Education,Energy come to mind)and a picking a percentage(2,3 maybe 5)that EVERY Federal entity must cut. If everybody is onboard I believe the necessary cuts can be made logically and fairly. We have to step-up as a nation and clean this mess up or we will be a larger version of Greece !

Which of course means the entitled "leaders" of our country who live like kings themselves with all the perks and bennies they receive. Will that happen, probably not, since those elected leaders surely won't want to see their pay, free medical, travel, etc cut from the budget. Therefore the cycle will continue where these distractions wil continue to be brought up and everyone will be at each other's throats pointing fingers at the other guy to have his/her programs cut.

The only thing that might have a chance of stopping what is coming, is if 10 million people marched on DC and removed Congress by force and then each state held new elections while ignoring and not including the political parties.

The founders foreseen this shit. You can look it up and read their words. Paraphrased: "when you elect people to represent you based on what they promise to give to you, it's over". "political parties will never work, because eventually the party's needs will start to come before the people".

Within the next few years, when DC realizes it's too late and they are forced to make the deep cuts they should have already made, you will see rioting in every major city across this country, the likes never before seen on this planet. It's inevitable. It will make Greece look like a fucking Sunday picnic.

And you want to know why I know Im right about this? Look what happened 3 years ago: They caught it just before the system collapsed and bailed out wallstreet. They just delayed the inevitable. It's coming again.

Wallstreet, the Fed, and the Fed govt are in bed together. You can't spend more than you take in, if you do it will come down eventually. And when it starts to fall, everyone will be pointing their fat fucking fingers everywhere else but at themselves. That includes the sheeple.

Look at Europe. One nation borrows money from another nation to bail out a 3rd nation (greece). Now Germany if fucked. Who's going to bail them out? Nobody is left in Europe.

Who's going to bail us out? We will try to "stop" it with band aids which will only make it worse when it comes. Just like the bailouts. They made the shit worse when it does come.

I am using my check to prepare for when it stops coming or when it gets gutted and cut.

People in large cities will be screwed the most. How do you feed millions when the trucks stop rolling? Remember Katrina? The writing is on the wall.

So how are we to stop everyone from looking out for themselves and pull together as a team and take cuts across the board? It seems most people are almost in panic mode and taking or doing whatever they can to prepare for the worst which is not having the funds to take care of themselves or their families. We, or majority, of us are already used to a certain lifestyle or way of living and cannot accept a "lower" level of living such as living with less or not buying the latest and greatest new BS that we simply just dont need.
